The app is due to launch at the end of November

An app which lets people publicly rate others - whether they like it or not - is to launch next month.

Anyone can place someone onto Peeple's public database then rate them as a person from from one to five, as well as adding comments.

The app has a 'frequently asked questions' section on its website and says there is currently no way for people to be removed from the app.

People will, however, be able to publicly respond to negative ratings and reviews.

Bad reviews will be quarantined for two days, allowing the subject to contact the reviewer to ask why they've been rated so harshly.

Peeple has been developed by Nicole McCullough and Julia Cordray

The Peeple website says: "Peeple is an app that allows you to rate and comment about the people you interact with in your daily lives on the following three categories: personal, professional, and dating.

"Peeple will enhance your online reputation for access to better quality networks, top job opportunities, and promote more informed decision making about people."

Those with a Facebook profile that has been active for at least six months will be eligible to sign up to use the app, which requires an iOS compatible phone or tablet.

But many people are already questioning whether the app is a hoax.

Despite the glossy website and promotional material, hundreds of people on Twitter have suggested that it could be a prank or a publicity stunt.
