A luxury sports car not only mysteriously disappeared from a showroom - it was also discovered to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident.

Staff at Eurokars Pre-Owned on Alexandra Road were shocked to find the glass door shattered and a white Lamborghini missing when they turned up for work on Wednesday morning, reported evening daily Lianhe Wanbao.

Police said they received a call at 5.30pm from the firm's general manager, who reported a missing car.

Investigations later revealed an intriguing sequence of events which began with the showroom's sales manager, a 53-year-old Chinese man, driving the car out.

The sales manager who drove a Lamborghini out of his car showroom, which was then involved in a hit-and-run accident, could be in bigger trouble.

It emerged yesterday that he had breached company rules by taking the car out after office hours.

The company selling the luxury sports car, Eurokars Pre-Owned, said that contrary to earlier reports, the man was 'not authorised by the company to use the car or to remove it from the showroom'.

A source from Eurokars told The Straits Times that the sales manager, Mr James Khoo, 53, has since been suspended from work because 'some processes had been breached'.
