FORMER Ren Ci Hospital founder Ming Yi and his former personal assistant Raymond Yeung were found guilty on Wednesday on charges over an unauthorised loan from the charity's funds to his aide in 2004. They will be sentenced on Nov 11. Ming Yi, 47, was convicted on four charges, two of them jointly with Yeung, 34. The Buddhist monk was accused of having supposedly made an unauthorised loan of $50,000 on May 17, 2004. The loan was allegedly made to the Mandala Buddhist Cultural Centre but it was not reflected in Mandala's financial records. Ming Yi and Yeung also face one charge each of giving false information to the Commissioner of Charities (COC) in a letter supposedly from a China artefacts company. The other two charges that Ming Yi faces are for misappropriating Ren Ci's funds by approving the loan and lying to the COC in an oral statement about it.
