<!-- story content : start --> FORMER Singapore teen model, television show host and actor Mark Chow Yee Sze is in trouble with the law again. The 29-year-old, whose molestation trial is set for further hearing on Dec 17, allegedly committed three criminal intimidation charges with toy guns while on $8,000 court bail. He was charged on Nov 28 with pointing a toy gun and threatening to shoot at Ms Toh Chin Gek near Ward 31A of Institute of Mental Health on Nov 26. Five minutes later, he allegedly threatened to shoot at three more staff of the hospital with two toy guns, with intent to cause alarm. The third charge accuses him of threatening to shoot at Certis Cisco Sergeant Wan Mohd Halim with two toy guns at the walkway between Block 3 and the institute's emergency ward. He was then remanded at IMH for psychiatric assessment. Back in court on Friday, Chow's lawyers Subhas Anandan and Sunil Sudheesan were given a pre-trial conference date on Wednesday to see if a global settlement could be reached.

Model agency owner Mark Chow Yee Sze, 30, has denied molesting her at the office of the downtown pub on Jan 10, 2007. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW

A FORMER pub operations manager told a district court on Thursday that she felt 'very angry and frustrated' when she was molested. Model agency owner Mark Chow Yee Sze, 30, has denied molesting her at the office of the downtown pub on Jan 10, 2007. The 27-year-old woman told the court that she was unwell and had taken some medication before she began work at the pub at about 9pm on Jan 9 that year. After having a drink or two with Chow and his group of friends, she felt extremely uncomfortable and a bit dizzy. She then went up to the third floor office, which was out of bounds to customers, to rest. While resting on the sofa, she woke up when she felt someone touching part of her breast. Instinctively, she swung her hand to flick the hand off. She said she was still very drowsy and felt quite helpless. 'I felt very frustrated, very angry at being molested,'' she told District Judge Sarjit Singh. Mr Subhas Anandan and Mr Sunil Sudheesan are defending Chow. The hearing continues.

<!-- story content : start --> FORMER teen model, actor and TV host Mark Chow Yee Sze told a district court on Wednesday that he had no intention of molesting a former pub operations manager. The 30-year-old, who was manager of modelling agency MC Models International, was giving his defence on a charge of outraging the modesty of the-year-old woman. The alleged offence took place at the office of the pub in the city area on Jan 10, 2007. Chow, now unemployed, claimed in his defence that he was trying to wake the woman up. But when all his patting, stroking and grabbing actions did not seem to work, he jabbed her on the upper chest to make her wake up. He denied putting his hand inside her blouse to touch part of her breast. The woman was then resting on the sofa in the office after having mixed alcohol with medication. The woman complained to her boss that she had been molested and called the police after viewing the video from the closed-circuit television camera. The trial was adjourned to dates to be fixed. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years or fine or caning or any two sentence.

On Tuesday, Mark Chow Yee Sze (above) confirmed the contents of his Jan 15, 2007 statement to the police, which was that he had 'no feeling for females because I am gay and not interested (in) women'. -- ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM

THE former model-agency owner now facing a molest charge has spent the last two days flip-flopping on what his sexual leaning was at the time of the alleged offence. At times, even he has seemed unsure of it. Mark Chow Yee Sze, 30, had told police in January 2007, after he allegedly molested a woman, that he was gay at the time. On Tuesday, the former television actor and host confirmed the contents of his Jan 15, 2007 statement to the police, which was that he had 'no feeling for females because I am gay and not interested (in) women'.

But this flew in the face of what he told the court on Monday : Quizzed by Deputy Public Prosecutor Adrian Loo on whether he was homosexual, he had then said he did not know. He explained that his father suspected he was gay, and insisted that he get himself a girlfriend. 'That is why I said I don't know. I was facing family pressure,' he said in Mandarin. He admitted to an on-off relationship with a Ms Cherie Mae Ng from 2005 to 2007. By January 2007, he said, they had broken up, but she was there for him as his bailor when he was charged with the offence the following year.

FORMER television actor and model Mark Chow Yee Sze was convicted on Thursday of molesting a former operations manager of a pub three years ago. The 30-year-old former model agency owner was found guilty of molesting the 27-year-old woman at a downtown pub on Jan 10, 2007 after a trial. The woman had testified that she felt unwell before she started work on Jan 9 that year, and after a few drinks, went up to the office to rest on the sofa. Closed-circuit television footage of what Chow did in the office was shown in court during the trial. Chow's defence was that he was merely trying to wake her up. He denied putting his hand into her blouse to touch part of her breast.

He was accused of tickling her right palm, patting her head, stroking her left cheek, left arm and the outside of her left thigh, grabbing her hands and left calf, and patting her buttocks.
Pleading for leniency, defence lawyer Subhas Anandan said his client had some mental problems as reported by a Changi General Hospital psychiatrist, and was still being treated. District Judge Sarjit Singh adjourned sentencing to April 1 to allow the prosecution to address the issues raised in Chow's medical report. Chow, who has four stood down charges, faces a jail term of up to two years or fine or caning or any two such punishments.

A FORMER television actor and model agency owner was fined $6,000 on Thursday for molesting a former pub operations manager three years ago.
Mark Chow Yee Sze, 30, a 1994 Mr Teenage Singapore, had been found guilty earlier of touching the then 25-year-old woman all over, including her breast, while she was resting in the office of the downtown pub on Jan 10, 2007.

The woman was unwell and had taken some medication before she reported for work at the pub on the evening of Jan 9 that year. Subsequently, she went to her office to rest. Chow was captured on the pub's CCTV doing various things to the woman, such as tickling her palm, stroking her cheek and patting her butt, while she was lying on the sofa. In his defence, he denied molesting her and told the court that he was merely trying to wake her up.

District Judge Sarjit Singh agreed with defence counsel Subhas Anandan that the touch of the chest was a fleeting one, and a stiff fine would do.
Chow still has four molestation charges involving one woman and three criminal intimidation charges, which will be mentioned in the same court on April 21. He could have been jailed for up to two years or fined or caned or received any two such punishments for the offence.

Chow (above), who had four other charges taken into consideration, was recently fined $6,000 for molesting a former pub operations manager in January 2007 after a trial. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW

FORMER TV actor and model agency owner Mark Chow Yee Sze molested a young aspiring model who had expressed interest in joining his agency four years ago. Chow, now 30, had contacted the 24-year-old woman for an interview and to meet at a bar at Gallery Hotel at Nanson Road on Aug 16, 2006. A district court heard that he told her that he intended to put her in FHM and Maxim, two men's magazines. As such, he wanted to examine her body as a standard protocol. The woman reluctantly agreed after Chow indicated that he did this for all his models to find out if they qualified to pose for the magazines. While they were inside the unisex toilet, she stripped to her underwear. She refused when he asked her to take off her undergarments. He then extended his left hand into her bra and caressed her breast.

Shocked, the woman pushed him away. He then left the toilet.
On Wednesday, Chow pleaded guilty to the molestation as well as two criminal intimidation charges. While on bail for his current offences, he went to the Institute of Mental Health last Nov 26 and threatened the staff there by pointing two pistol-like objects at them. He also threatened a Certis Cisco officer in a similar way. District Judge Sarjit Singh adjourned sentencing to April 30 to consider the submissions made by Deputy Public Prosecutor Adrian Loo. Chow, who had four other charges taken into consideration, was recently fined $6,000 for molesting a former pub operations manager in January 2007 after a trial.

SINGAPORE : Former actor Mark Chow, who had been convicted of molestation charges, would have been a free man this Saturday if not for a successful appeal by the prosecution on Friday.

In the High Court, Justice Steven Chong said that the sentence for Chow's previous convictions was "manifestly inadequate".

For his first molestation conviction, he was initially fined S$6,000. As he could not pay in full, he had to serve four weeks' jail in default.

The prosecution appealed against the S$6,000 fine.

He was also jailed four months and two weeks after being convicted of three charges of molestation and criminal intimidation.

With the prosecution's successful appeal, he now has to serve 18 months' jail in total. The four months and six weeks which Chow had already served will be deducted from the 18 months.

Justice Chong said that there were aggravating factors such as a lack of remorse from Chow and the violation of the victim's private parts.
