SINGAPORE: A 30-year-old man who helped to run a brothel and collected commission from the clients of prostitutes has been sentenced to three months' jail.
Huang Han Jie, who was convicted of two charges, received three months' jail for helping to collect commission from the clients.
He was given another month's jail, which will run concurrently, for helping to run a brothel in Teck Lim Road in Chinatown.
Huang is the first of five members of a syndicate to be dealt with by the law.
In September 2010, another accused, Koh Swee Beng, allegedly used the rented premises in Teck Lim Road to provide sexual services.
In early 2012, he allegedly did the same at the premises in Amoy Street.
Koh paid Huang about S$80 a day to collect commission from the clients and run one of the brothels.
The cases of the remaining accused will be heard on February 15.
