Man on false info charge
By Elena Chong
A FORMER stable helper who faces three charges of doping three horses with a banned drug dropped was brought to court on Wednesday with giving false information to the police. Ng Guan Hup, 67, is accused of giving false information to a police officer at Tanglin Police Division headquarters on April 12, 2008 that he did administer drugs to three horses on July 2007 at the Singapore Turf Club. He had originally pleaded guilty to mischief by drugging a race horse, but fresh evidence came up showing that he admitted to a crime he did not commit. Ng's case will be mentioned on Dec 8. If convicted of the latest charge, he can be jailed for up to one year and/or fined up to $5,000.
