Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull arrives in Kuala Lumpur for the East Asia Summit on Saturday where there are unconfirmed reports of imminent terror attacks.
As world leaders including US President Barack Obama and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrive in the city for an ASEAN meeting and the East Asia Summit this weekend, 4500 soldiers are being deployed or put on stand-by.
Local news website Malaysiakini on Thursday reported a leaked police memo that ISIS and Philippine insurgents Abu Sayyaf had positioned 10 suicide bombers in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia's police chief confirmed the memo was authentic, but said the intelligence was not confirmed.
In response, already tight security arrangements are being tightened further.
Mr Turnbull has bilateral meetings with representatives from China, Cambodia, Korea and Vietnam on Saturday.
On Sunday, he is due to meet Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who wants to address the subject of terror threats while leaders are gathered together.
