A pair of so-called "honeytrap" con women have been jailed for luring a man out on a date so they could burgle his house.

One of the honeytrappers posed as the victim's love interest while the other robbed his home in Hayes, west London.

Sarah Ireland, 26, from Hayes and Amy Moffatt, 25, from Northolt, pleaded guilty to theft and were jailed for two years.

The court heard how Moffat sweet-talked the 40-year-old man into a date after meeting him at a Sainsbury's petrol station on May 12.

When they met at a pub that same night, Moffatt texted Ireland with the victim's address after finding out where he stayed.

She kept him busy on the fake date while Ireland broke into his home and stole personal belongings and jewellery.

But the pair were caught after a teenage boy who was in the house alerted his mother - the landlord - and the victim began to be suspicious about the behaviour of his new flame.

They appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on November 12 and pleaded guilty to the offences.

Officers seized CCTV evidence from the petrol station where the victim was lured on the date. This led to the identification of the criminals' vehicle - a black Vauxhall Astra.

Both women were then arrested in late May, though their male accomplice wasn't found.

Detective Constable Okiki Okunola of Hillingdon's Burglary Squad, said: "Both women played on the vulnerability of a boy in his own home and the trust of a man who thought Moffatt was a genuine love interest.

"The speed both women worked to that evening clearly demonstrates how calculated and heartless they were."
