DUNGUN: Pengunjung pantai Rantau Abang, dekat sini, dikejutkan dengan penemuan mayat reput tanpa kepala terdampar di tepi pantai kira-kira jam 5.15 petang tadi.

Ketua Polis Daerah Dungun, Superintendan Maizura Abdul Kadir, berkata sepasukan anggota polis bergegas ke lokasi kejadian sebaik menerima laporan itu.

Menurutnya, setakat ini, identiti mayat terbabit belum dapat dikenal pasti berikutan keadaannya yang sudah mereput.

"Pihak kami percaya mayat terbabit adalah seorang lelaki namun usia mangsa belum dapat dikenal pasti.

"Pihak polis percaya mayat terbabit dihanyutkan arus sebelum dipukul ombak naik ke daratan," katanya.

Maizura berkata, mayat mangsa dibawa ke Bilik Forensik Hospital Dungun untuk siasatan lanjut.

Polis memohon kerjasama orang ramai yang kehilangan ahli keluarga supaya tampil menghubungi pihak polis.

"Kita percaya individu itu meninggal dunia lebih satu atau dua minggu berdasarkan keadaannya yang reput dan setakat ini kes diklasifikasikan sebagai kematian mengejut," katanya.
