Age limit for delivery riders to be reduced from 21 to 18, says Wee

GEORGE TOWN: The government has decided to lower the age limit for motorcycle-based delivery riders from 21 to 18, says transport minister Wee Ka Siong.

He said this move was to allow more youths to earn an income from the p-hailing (delivery riders) services offered by various companies.

“The amendment will be tabled at the next Parliament sitting.

This will allow younger Malaysians to earn extra income or possibly consider a career in the gig economy,” he said when contacted.

The change is part of a larger bill proposed by the transport ministry to amend the Road Transport Act 1987, which includes three other significant amendments.

Under the proposed changes, tour bus drivers will be required to have vocational licences, like all other bus drivers.

Wee said a temporary vehicle ownership certificate would also be made part of the law for used car dealers to protect the rights of consumers.

This certificate would give dealers temporary possession of the car after a sale by the owner.

Wee said this measure had already been established in 2011 as an administrative rule, but would now be made law.

Wee said data from the high-speed weighing system used for heavy vehicles would also be recognised under the new amendments, replacing manual weighing.

“This will ensure higher compliance of the relevant rules by all owners, especially goods vehicles. Ultimately, this will lead to safer roads,” he said

That why unemployment rate so low.
One of the first thing this minister did was increasing sentences fir those caught drunk driving with. Mandatory jail sentences, and hefty fines.
The result. More business for grab.

stinkypura set up by brits primarily as shipping hub delivering ships

since stinkypura originally belonged to sultan of Johor, in Malaysia, no wonder melayun can only work in food delivery jobs

race and IQ might be another factor

after all, historically, there has never been a great civilization, empire, culture, intellectual, scholar, philosopher, even traveller or merchant, of the likes of Ibn Battuta or Marco Polo, that has ever emerged from ASEAN

it's as much an intellectual or civilizational backwater as negro africa or australia/oceania. just half a notch lower than ceca virus, who as saffron terrorist in chief had admitted, was ruled for 1000 years by their Muslim masters.

Hey, that sounds like a positive change! Lowering the age limit for delivery riders can create more job opportunities for younger folks. It's great to see the government supporting the gig economy and making it easier for people to earn an income.
