Full press release below:

The Neighbourhood Watch Crime Alert Message Board initiative was launched by Prime Minister and MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Mr Lee Hsien Loong and Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Keok Tong San, at the All C.A.R.E Harmony Trail cum Harmony Night 2013 organised by Ang Mo Kio GRC and Sengkang West SMC.

The community event took place on January 26 2013 at 1pm at the open field next to Ang Mo Kio Central 2.

Members of Parliament Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, Mr Seng Han Thong, Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, Dr Lam Pin Min and Mr Ang Hin Kee also attended the event.

A crime prevention initiative by Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the Neighbourhood Watch Crime Alert Message Boards will be installed in the first floor lift lobbies of HDB blocks in Ang Mo Kio GRC and Sengkang SMC. Crime advisory posters will be placed in the message boards and will be updated regularly to raise residents' awareness of crime trends in the neighbourhood.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, DAC Keok Tong San, said, "The initiative aims to showcase the latest crime prevention messages and highlight the prevailing crimes of concern. Through this initiative, residents can not only gain greater awareness of how to take appropriate measures to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime, but also become more vigilant in looking out for suspicious persons or activity in the neighbourhood. Together, we can help keep our neighbourhood safe and crime-free!"

As part of a pilot phase, 295 Boards have been installed in 120 HDB blocks in Ang Mo Kio. Ang Mo Kio Police Division aims to extend the Crime Alert Message Boards to all HDB blocks within the Division's jurisdiction by March 2014.
