Why are casinos necessary
Most of the jobs created are going to non-Sporeans & not creating high value jobs. It is in fact creating plenty of social problems

Just the land itself already got billions of dollars from the two resorts. And a few years down the road, the gambling taxes may be enough to build another MRT line. Because of that, you pay less income personal taxes.
erm, maybe YOU should open ur eyes bigger. frankly ask you or your friend's friends or your friend's friend's friends. how many are actually working in the casino? and please walk around the casino, many are from malaysia, philip and china. and yes, most of the 'tua sa' or staff that wear 'big coat' aka blazer or suit are from malaysians. don't believe, listen to the way they talk. best is speak to them. you will hear the familiar malaysian chinese accent.

Prices never go down in Spore. Just look at the bus fares, utility rates, etc Why do you think Sporeans are looking at staying in JB which happens to be the most expensive place in Malaysia, but still considered cheaper than Spore.Of course the PAP is making $$$$, but they never share it with the citizens of Spore. Even the handouts that are given before each elections are taken back by the price increases.
As for the true number of Sporeans being hired at the casinos, please provide a link to these "official statistics".

If we accept the reasoning that three casinos will generate $6 billion of investment plus 30,000 jobs, why not have 10 casinos to generate $18 billion of investment plus 90,000 jobs? Why stop at three? What are we afraid of? If it is the destruction of our quality of life, as I suggest, then shouldn’t we prohibit big-time gaming casinos entirely? Our state legislators should not risk destroying our community.

There is plenty of competition among the restaurants in LOS, if they tried to serve a Spore size MacD they would soon be out of business.
If you are ever in Bangkok & visiting Nana Plaza there are two MacD's within walking distance. If you visit Patpong there is a MacD opposite of Patpong.
