Almost 1,000 people have applied for compensation after claiming to have been left severely disabled by the coronavirus vaccine.
A government scheme established in 1979 provides payments of £120,000 to anyone who suffers significant harm as the result of a jab.
The tax-free settlements can also be made to the families of those who die after suffering adverse reactions to vaccines.
So far a total of 920 applications have been lodged with the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS), which if accepted would cost the Government more than £110 million.
In order to qualify, the victims must have either died or be able to show they have been left 60 per cent disabled as a result of having a jab.
More than 52 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the UK but accurate figures on the number of related deaths are not clear.
While official figures put the number of fatalities at nine, statistics from the Yellow Card Scheme - where members of the public or health professionals can report suspected side effects - suggest there have been 79 deaths.

Blood clots and immune reactions reported

Some of the reported side effects suffered by those who have taken the jab include blood clots and immune reactions.

But establishing a causal link between a vaccination and a health condition can be extremely difficult.
Lawyers representing some claimants believe both the assessment system and the payments themselves are outdated and need reviewing.
The amount of money paid out by the VDPA since it was launched in 1979 has topped £79 million.
A spokesman for the NHS Business Services Authority, which took over the running of the scheme last year, said no payments had yet been made linked to the coronavirus vaccine.
The spokesman said: "Establishing a link between the Covid-19 vaccines and potential adverse effects has not been straightforward."
The spokesman added that applications were being assessed on a case by case basis and staff were being hired to process claims as speedily as possible.
