A man hiding under the bed of a woman he planned to sexually assault was betrayed by his own body odor, reports our Chinese-language sister paper Want Daily.
The 18-year-old suspect, surnamed Li, broke into a women's dorm in Shenzhen and hid under the bed in wait for the occupant of the room to come home from her night shift.
The woman, a 20-year-old surnamed Wang, returned home at 1 pm on Apr. 12 and smelled something odd once she entered the room–the strong body odor of the suspect. Exhausted, she went straight to bed without looking for the source of the smell.
Wang was unable to fall asleep due to the stench, however, and got up to open a window. It was when she got up from the bed that she discovered the man hiding under it.
Upon being discovered, the man attempted to force himself on her but Wang fought back and shouted for help, alerting her neighbors who came to her rescue.
The police rushed to the scene and arrested Li for attempted sexual assault.
