35-year-old serial armed robber arrested

SINGAPORE - A 35-year-old man has been arrested by the police for committing a series of armed robberies in Jurong West.
Police were notified to four similar cases occurring between April 10 and 12 where victims had their handphones and valuables taken at knife point by a suspect with similar descriptions.
Based on the information given and the modus operandi of the cases, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive investigations and managed to establish the identity of the suspect.
The 35-year-old man was subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Boon Lay Place on April 15.
The suspect will be charged in court on April 17 for the offence of armed robbery. If convicted, he could face a jail term up to 10 years and up to 12 strokes of cane.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim urged members of the public to be alert of their surroundings for suspicious persons, and be wary of such people loitering near to them.
When they encounter such situations, they should remain composed, and to note down the suspect's description and lodge a police report as soon as it is safe to do so.
