SINGAPORE - A 34-year-old man believed to be involved in two separate cases of house breaking and vehicle theft in Woodlands has been arrested by the police.
On Tuesday (March 1) at about 6.35am, a resident at Rosewood Drive had been awakened by noises from her balcony. She spotted a man, who subsequently fled. A designer handbag, among other items, were later found missing.
The resident then lodged a police report.
On the same day at about 8.15 am, a member of the public called the police after he saw a man who appeared to be stealing items from a parked vehicle at Block 173, Woodlands Street 13.
Officers from Jurong Division swiftly responded to the call and, with information provided by the resident, they arrested the suspect in the vicinity.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the same suspect is believed to be involved in the earlier house breaking case. A pair of sunglasses, four bottles of perfumes, and two ATM cards found in his possession were seized as case exhibits.
If convicted of house breaking and theft by night, the suspect could face a jail sentence of up to 14 years and a fine.
