2 drug syndicates busted, 4 people arrested
SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has busted two drug syndicates believed to have been actively distributing drugs in Singapore.
Four Singaporeans were arrested on Friday and 2.12kg of heroin, 216g of “Ice” and 480 Erimin-5 tablets were seized.
The drugs are worth S$252,000.
CNB said the total amount of heroin seized can sustain more than 1,000 drug abusers for one week.
CNB officers arrested a 49-year-old drug runner after she had met a suspected drug trafficker at a unit of a block in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.
She had S$8,200 in cash on her.
A 42-year-old man was arrested in the unit where the meeting had taken place.
CNB officers found two bundles of heroin inside the rubbish collection point on the ground floor of the suspected trafficker's unit.
The man had earlier torn open one of the bundles and disposed both bundles down the rubbish chute.
In another operation, two men were arrested after they got out of a car in Geylang Lorong 33.
CNB officers found a bundle of heroin in the centre console box of the car.
CNB officers raided the suspected drug offenders' hideout at a condominium in the same area and found more heroin, “Ice”, Erimin-5 tablets and S$4,500 cash.
CNB said the two men aged 56 and 57 had intended to distribute the drugs which have a street value of S$152,000.
Investigations on all four suspects are ongoing. - CNA/xq
