Last month I started part-time work three times a week playing with a band in hotel lounge

Pay is so-so, but I only play a few hours a night, mainly with a couple more local uncles and some Filipinos. Makan and transport provided

Met one Chinese singer from Jilin, very sweet. Stays in worker's hostel in Jalan Besar. She can sing quite a few English oldies like Close To You, End of The World, etc, mostly Carpenters and those that can be found on the popular karaoke discs.

She can sing but cannot speak English except very basic.
I brought her to the beach last night after work and we strummed guitar and sang till sunrise - among other things

I am wondering if I marry her, how long before she can get Singaporean citizenship. Any bro experienced in this or has taken this path can advise me...from work permit to PR to citizenship will take how long

Previously I also dated a Filipina and nearly got married. I even went to Philippines to meet her family but that was when I opened my eyes. Whoa scary the whole family so big and all want something from me. And the brother after knew me for one week wanted to borrow money to pay gambling debts. When I refused he said I took advanatge of the sister. I scared of them and didn't go back to the lounge and changed phone number

Your friend is from Jilin province, north eastern part of China. My acquaintances have told me the people there are the fierce type. I have also gotten to know a few WLs from that part of China & i have f88ked countless numbers of pretty PRCs irregardless of their bad service & attitude. Well a screw is a screw & i am a sucker for good looks so just f88k & forget.

Time will tell so my advice to you is put her to the test, let her know u are very poor and stay with her for as long as you can. Let her true colors show.

The pretty WLs & singles are mistresses of rich men. Look, they are here to have a good life & not to struggle with you through thick & thin. I know of case where PRC ladies are equally as good as local lady or also M'sian. Perhap your friends or those around you are looking at the wrong pot.

A previous mate from reservist had married a PRC from Shanghai. They are like normal working couples raising kids and doing family planning. Those I must say that guy is a decent guy lah.

The fact that she is willing to earn a honest living by sing in lounge and not KTV to earn more shows that this girl respect herself. Such a girl in turn deserve our respect and deserve a chance to find a good husband in Singapore if she really keen to settle down here.

There's a big difference between marrying a PRC whom you have met in S'pore and one whom you have met in China.

It does not take a genius to know why a girl fly all the way from Jilin to join the "entertainment" industry here - $$$, sick & poor parents, retarded brother, single parent etc.......

All Singaporeans know the quality of the PRC FT in S'pore. PRCs who can make it are either making good $$$ in China itself or in some real 1st world country like USA or in Europe.

I know best because I work in China and my wife is also from Jilin. There will be the usual squibbles between us but that's normal and nothing major. I don't have to give a single cent to her family because they are middle class people who live in the city.

The point is that you really need to know her and her background inside out before you marry her, esp if she is a foreigner and you know nothing about her. Foreigners are no big deal in big city like Beijing where I work and the kind of PRC that you meet here are world aparts from the losers/desperados PRC you see in S'pore.
