The police yesterday released their annual crime statistics.
Over $7.4 million was lost to phone scams last year, mostly through "lucky draw scams", where the victim is told he has won a cash prize, only to be swindled into paying other fees. One man lost $784,000.
Separately, more women were molested on public transport last year, going up 34 per cent to 153 cases
