La Liga is a joke, only a two horse race...sometimes three. I am disappointed that Peter Lim isn't buying his way to be the 4th horse.

Shkrodran Mustafi 'not for sale' says Valencia coach Pako Ayestaran

After losing their first La Liga encounter 4-2 to Las Palmas at home on Monday, Valencia coach Pako Ayestaran has vowed to keep Shkrodran Mustafi at the club despite interest from Arsenal.

Santi Mina's brace was not enough to stop the visitors from snatching three points, in what was a topsy-turvy game of poor defending.

Immediately after the game, Ayestaran hinted that he is still looking to bring in new players, while German international defender Mustafi and striker Paco Alcacer will not leave the club during this transfer window.

"Mustafi is not for sale and he will stay at VCF," he told reporters. "The market is open and there are still possibilities.

"With Alcacer, I can be as firm as with Mustafi, [club president] Lay Hoon already said it.

"The president has said in public that Alcacer and Mustafi are not for sale and I have to believe her."

As for losing the first league game of the season, Ayestaran is confident his charges will come good as the season progresses.

"I am sad and disappointed by the result but satisfied by the performance of the team, it is difficult to play better," he added.

"Their [Las Palmas] effectiveness has been better than normal. The grade has been fairly good for the team, we had chances to win the match but we were not accurate.

"I want the team to have identity and that it is noticeable. I am very satisfied and convinced that if we are able to maintain this level and correct the mistakes, then the team will be up there."

Valencia have a chance to get their first win of the season when they travel to Eibar on Sunday.

Can't really make my mind up about Liverpool. They're a bit of an enigma. They have quality players, a decent well proven manager in Klopp and financial backing from rich U.S. owners but yet cannot deliver on results.

They should be winning silverware like the glory teams of the 1970s and 1980s - Dalglish, Hughes, Thompson, Souness, Keegan, Toshack, Highway, Clemence - some great players of the past with Bob Paisley as the coach.

Thought about posting this on the Man Utd thread but decided to comment here.

Interesting that Marcus Rashford has been frozen out of the first team (through no fault of his own). Zlatan has been on fire and is re-inforcing his place as the main striker. How will Mourinho deal with him?

Allardyce has already mentioned that he he doesn't get enough match play, he'll be dropped from the England squad.
Will he follow in the footsteps of Januzaj and get loaned out as "excess to requirements"? Another Man Utd reject in the making?

I hope not.

Mourinho has his own ideas who are permanently not required (Schweni) and who are temporarily not required (Januzaj), whether right or wrong eventually, nobody knows now. Players temporarily not required have been or will be sent out on loan and besides Januzaj, include Borthwick-Jackson, James Wilson, Andreas Pereira, etc. He said that he is willing to work with a larger squad of 23 outfield players and 3 goalies, and Rashford is included in the 23. So is Timothy Fosu Mensah, I think. Both will get game time in the Europa league and FA/EFL cups, and also when Man Utd start to falter in the Premier League.

Poor Joe Hart. Relegated to 3rd ranked goalie under Guardiola at Man City.
Where will he go? More importantly, who can afford him?
