FA Cup winners Chelsea have announced a partnership with Formula 1 team Sauber in a deal that will break new ground between football and F1.

The deal will see the west London club's logo appearing on the Swiss team's car as well as on interview walls that act as the backdrop for Sauber's official team interviews.

"This is an innovative partnership that will see a football club link up with an F1 team like never before, bringing together two of the world's biggest sports and uniting our fans," Chelsea CEO Ron Gourlay told reporters.

A statement from Sauber said: "The football club benefits from Formula One's television reach which, compared with the Premier League, is much higher and more international."Particularly in Asia,

Formula One enjoys enormous TV presence and, not least thanks to Sergio Perez (Sauber's Mexican lead driver), is currently captivating more and more fans in Latin America, as well."

Manchester United have written to the Football Association to request only Ryan Giggs be selected for the Team GB Olympic squad from their available over-23 players.

Widespread reports suggest they have asked Stuart Pearce to rule out Jonny Evans, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.

A ruling made back in 2008 allows clubs to refuse players from linking up with the Olympics teams as it is not part of the international calendar.

However, United are only refusing players over-23 from being part of the tournament, so this allows Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling the chance to play - unless they have already been selected for Euro 2012 by new England boss Roy Hodgson.

Thirty-eight-year-old Giggs has never featured in an international tournament and will apparently be allowed to feature should Pearce pick him for his squad.

The Welsh international is hopeful of a call-up but it hangs in the balance of the Football Association of Wales as they are reportedly not in favour of joining Team GB, though it is believed they too would allow Giggs to play.

The FA have refused to confirm the letter but will let United have their wish as they are allowing the winger and those not featuring in Poland and Ukraine a chance to be in the British Olympic team.

Ferguson had also earlier revealed Mexico international Javier Hernandez won't be joining up with his Olympic team after originally being selected to be part as an over-23 player, but both parties agreed to give the striker the summer off.

Wenger predicts quiet transfer market

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not foresee the club undergoing an overhaul in playing staff this summer.

Having already secured Lukas Podolski's signature, rumours are abound that Arsenal are close to making several other signings before the start of next season. However, Wenger does not believe a spending spree is required, as he is satisfied with most of the players on the roster.

"We have already bought Podolski and we have bought five players during the season when it had already started, our job will be focused on inside [matters] now we have Podolski," he shared with Arsenal Player.

"That means to get Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby back in a healthy situation and then I believe we have quite a big squad. It will be [our intention] to trim a little bit and if possible add one or two players."
The Frenchman is also convinced that most of their league rivals will be following suit and not make too many signings.

"I believe that the summer will be quiet for many reasons, first of all in England you have a 25-man limited squad number. Secondly the financial situation all over Europe is really bad and in some countries they have other worries than football." Wenger said.

"In our job, and this is like a football match, it is not completely predictable. But on the vibes I get even from the clubs who are big spenders, they all want to slow down."

No QPR survival bonus for Hughes

Mark Hughes' advisor Kia Joorabchian has refuted claims the Welshman will receive a £1million bonus for keeping QPR in the Premier League.

The Hoops' fate lies in their own hands as they need just a point to stave off relegation but they must travel to league leaders Manchester City, who need a win to guarantee the Premier League crown.

With so much at stake, several newspapers have reported Hughes will receive a hefty pay day should QPR retain their top-flight status.

Joorabchian, though, claims Hughes, who took over as R's manager in January after Neil Warnock was sacked, is at the London club for the long haul.

"He knew he was taking the job in the middle of the season, quite late on in January," Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.

"The directive of the owners and the chief executive there was that they wanted to build the club from the base up and they were looking for the right man to do it.

"If it meant it would take a few years to build it then that's how it was and that was the whole thing of signing (Hughes) in that there was no bonus at all for him or his team for staying up."

QPR are in pole position to retain their top-flight status, lying two points ahead of 18th-placed Bolton.

And Joorabchian added Hughes is in a positive mindset ahead of the clash with his former employers at the Etihad Stadium.

"He's in a good frame of mind as they've got some very, very interesting results over the last few weeks," said Joorabchian.

"They've managed to beat Tottenham, Liverpool and Stoke at home, which is quite an achievement.

"So the side is improving and I think the idea is as of next year - should they be in the Premier League - Mark will look to build the side and take the club further."

Premier League Weekend Team News

A round-up of team news ahead of the final weekend in the Premier League.

Chelsea vs Blackburn

David Luiz and Gary Cahill have failed to recover from hamstring injuries in time to face Blackburn. The centre-backs remain in a race against time to be fit for next Saturday's Champions League final. Midfielder John Obi Mikel is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from a knee injury, with Roberto Di Matteo confirming he would blood some of the Blues' youngsters against Rovers.

Defender Bradley Orr will miss out for already-relegated Blackburn after having surgery on his Achilles tendon, while goalkeeper Paul Robinson doubtful due to an ankle injury. Midfielder David Dunn is a doubt after limping off in the first half of Monday's clash with Wigan, a 1-0 defeat which condemned Rovers to the drop. Defender Gael Givet is clear to play despite suffering an unconfirmed problem in the game against Wigan.

Everton vs Newcastle

Everton could welcome back Leighton Baines, Phil Neville and Darron Gibson. Left-back Baines has been out for a month with a groin injury while utility man Neville and midfielder Gibson missed last week's draw at Wolves with unspecified knocks. Midfielder Jack Rodwell (hamstring) and forward Victor Anichebe (groin) are both missing.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will be without full-back Danny Simpson because of an ankle problem, while striker Leon Best will also not travel because of a thigh strain. Midfielder Sammy Ameobi (knee) is stepping up his training and only central defender Steven Taylor (Achilles) is still on the long-term injury list.

Man City vs QPR

Manchester City have no injury concerns and manager Roberto Mancini has suggested retaining the same system that finished last week's vital win over Newcastle, when midfielder Nigel de Jong came on to allow Yaya Toure to advance. Controversial striker Mario Balotelli, who has not played since his sending off at Arsenal last month, is in contention after being overlooked at Newcastle.

Samba Diakite will miss QPR's vital clash and could be joined by several of his midfield team-mates. The January signing from Nancy is struggling with a virus and could be joined on the sidelines by Shaun Derry (dead leg) and Akos Buzsaky (hamstring). Fellow central midfielder Alejandro Faurlin is also out due to a long-term anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Norwich vs Aston Villa

Norwich left-back Adam Drury (groin) remains a doubt. Striker James Vaughan is pressing for a recall having been left out of last weekend's 3-3 draw at Arsenal. Defenders Zak Whitbread (hamstring), Marc Tierney (groin) and Daniel Ayala (knee) are all ruled out.

Aston Villa will be without striker Andreas Weimann and defender Alan Hutton. Weimann suffered a medial ligament strain in the home draw against Tottenham while Hutton ruptured ankle ligaments in the same game, an injury which saw Danny Rose sent off for his challenge on the full-back. Villa are without Darren Bent (ankle) and will check on the fitness of Emile Heskey (ankle) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (ribs).

Stoke vs Bolton

Stoke are waiting on the fitness of left-back Marc Wilson after the player had a scan on his back. Wilson was forced off with the problem at half-time during last weekend's loss to QPR, and boss Tony Pulis will give him until the day of the game to prove his fitness. Defender Andy Wilkinson (groin) and winger Jermaine Pennant (hamstring) are expected to be fit while Dane Thomas Sorensen will keep his place in goal as he builds up to next month's Euro 2012 tournament.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle will assess the condition of a number of players. Nigel Reo-Coker (leg) and Mark Davies (virus) could be available and Darren Pratley (virus) could be in line for his comeback. Lee Chung-yong returned following a broken leg against West Brom but Gretar Steinsson remains sidelined with a thigh problem. David Wheater is out with cruciate ligament damage to his right knee.

Sunderland vs Man Utd

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has no fresh major injury concerns. Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has returned to training following a lengthy lay-off with a knee problem, although the game is likely to come too soon. Centre-half Titus Bramble (Achilles) is likely to be included in the squad after making the bench at Fulham last week, but full-back Kieran Richardson and midfielder Sebastian Larsson (both hernia surgery) will miss out.

Chris Smalling and Danny Welbeck will both miss out. Smalling (groin) is set for a summer operation that will rule him out of Euro 2012, whilst Welbeck (ankle) has not recovered from the injury that he sustained during last month's Manchester derby. It means Phil Jones should start alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence.

Swansea vs Liverpool

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has no fresh injury concerns. Full-back Angel Rangel returned from a hamstring problem at Manchester United, while midfielder Leon Britton recovered from a knee niggle to feature as a second-half substitute at Old Trafford. Kemy Agustien (ankle) and Ferrie Bodde (knee) remain sidelined with their long-term injuries.

Manager Kenny Dalglish may decide to freshen up his team. Captain Steven Gerrard missed Tuesday's win over Chelsea with a minor back problem and may not be risked again while left-back Jose Enrique also sat out that game. Teenager Raheem Sterling is likely to get another run-out from the bench having made back-to-back league appearances as a substitute.

Tottenham vs Fulham

Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker is a doubt due to an Achilles injury. Danny Rose is suspended after his red card against Aston Villa and Benoit Assou-Ekotto is out with a shoulder injury, meaning William Gallas could have to play at left-back. Ledley King could miss out with his knee problem. Long-term absentees Niko Kranjcar (knee), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (ankle) are unavailable.

Fulham will be without Clint Dempsey as he is struggling with a groin injury while Fulham manager Martin Jol is also without Bryan Ruiz (foot), Dickson Etuhu (knee) and Steve Sidwell (hernia) on his first return to White Hart Lane. Alex Kacaniklic is also a doubt after dropping out of training with a hamstring problem.

West Brom vs Arsenal

West Brom skipper Chris Brunt is unavailable for new England manager Roy Hodgson's final match in charge after having his tonsils removed. Fellow midfielder Paul Scharner is poised to make his final Albion appearance, with his contract running out this summer. Striker Peter Odemwingie (leg) and winger Jerome Thomas (illness) are doubtful to face the Gunners.

Arsenal could have winger Theo Walcott back from a hamstring injury. Full-back Bacary Sagna has undergone an operation on his broken leg and will miss France's European Championship campaign. German centre-back Per Mertesacker is making good progress with his ankle injury. Midfielders Abou Diaby (calf), Mikel Arteta (ankle) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) are also out.

Wigan vs Wolverhampton

David Jones is Wigan's only fitness concern with a couple of niggling injuries and is unlikely to feature. Robert Martinez otherwise has a full squad to select from for the visit of rock-bottom and already-relegated Wolves.

Wolves interim boss Terry Connor will assess the fitness of centre-back Christophe Berra and winger Michael Kightly after they were substituted with calf and groin strains respectively during the second half of the goalless draw with Everton. Connor is also monitoring defender Sebastien Bassong (hamstring), right-back Kevin Foley (hamstring), winger Matt Jarvis (groin) and midfielder David Davis (head).

Manchester City have won a first Premier League title on goal difference after a day of incredible drama.

Roberto Mancini's men led at half-time when Rs' goalkeeper Paddy Kenny failed to stop Pablo Zabaleta's snap-shot from six yards after 39 minutes.

But, with Mark Hughes' side camped inside their own half for the majority, Djibril Cisse pounced on a mistake by Joleon Lescott to hammer an equaliser past Joe Hart.

City appeared to be handed the upperhand when Rs' captain Joey Barton was sent off just before the hour mark for striking Carlos Tevez, only for QPR to go in front when second-half substitute Armand Traore stormed down the left flank and delivered a whipped cross for Jamie Mackie to head into the net.

As the game entered stoppage time, Edin Dzeko lost his marker at a corner to equalise, with Sergio Aguero scoring the most dramatic of winners with just one minute of playing time remaining.

A first-half Wayne Rooney header was enough for the Red Devils to claim the three points needed over Sunderland, but Sir Alex Ferguson's side needed Manchester City to slip up against QPR if they were to claim their 20th league title.

Speaking after the game, Roberto Mancini told Sky Sports: "Football is incredible.

"This is for our supporters, they deserved this.

"To win like this is incredible. I've never seen a final day like this. We didn't deserve to lose this game. We had a lot of chances. We deserve to win this championship.

"After 44 years, for all our supporters it's incredible. It's been a crazy season."

Sir Alex Ferguson congratulated Manchester City after they won a maiden Premier League title in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Manchester United were on course to claim their 20th title with just two minutes of injury time left on the clock at the Etihad after Wayne Rooney’s goal gave the Red Devils a narrow win over Sunderland.

However, two strikes at the death from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero gave City a 3-2 win over QPR, ending their 44-year-wait for English football’s ultimate prize as they clinched the title on goal difference.

Ferguson admitted he was stunned by the scenes at the Etihad Stadium, but congratulated his side’s arch rivals for clinching their maiden Premier League crown.

He told BBC Final Score: “I don’t think anyone was expecting that [the finish].

“Everyone expected City to win, they had to do it against 10 men for half an hour and they had five minutes of added time too.

“I congratulate City on winning the league, it’s not an easy week to win it. Anyone who wins it deserves it.”

Proceedings at the Stadium of Light were brought to a close with United believing they had done enough to win it, until the dramatic final moments elsewhere in Manchester.

The Scot revealed it was the reaction of the fans on Wearside which told him and his players that the title had been snatched from their grasp.

“I don’t think the players actually knew [what happened], the reaction of the fans told them,” he said. “I don’t think they knew at the end of the game.

“I didn’t know either until the Sunderland fans started cheering, then I knew we were in trouble.”

Ferguson conceded his players were left devastated after the news from the Etihad filtered through, but insists he remains happy with the way his side have performed during the season despite them being denied their 20th title at the death.

“They are disappointed, glad to say they are very, very disappointed, so they should be,” the 70-year-old added.

“They have conducted themselves well today, played really good football and but for the Sunderland goalkeeper it could have been six or seven.

“I’m pleased with the performance this season, 89 points would have been enough in most seasons. It wasn’t our turn today.”

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Manchester City have a century of catching up to do to reach the Red Devils' level of success after their rival's Premier Leaguetitle win on Sunday.

The 70-year-old's side won 1-0 at Sunderland and looked to have won the league until two late stoppage-time goals at the Etihad Stadium secured a dramatic 3-2 win for City as they claimed the trophy on goal difference.

The victory for Roberto Mancini's men means the Premier League crown now resides away from Old Trafford, and although the Scot congratulated City, he made clear his belief that United are still miles ahead of their rivals in terms of history and tradition.

Ferguson told MUTV: "On behalf of Manchester United I'd like to say congratulations to our neighbours. It's a fantastic achievement to win this league.

"Our rich history stands us aside - it's better than anyone. It would take City a century to get our level of history."

Wayne Rooney's goal not long after the 20-minute mark was all that separated United and Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday despite numerous attempts at goal from the visitors.

Ferguson said of the younger generation at Old Trafford: "The young lads will remember today. Sometimes a bad experience is better for you... you shouldn't fear the future and these lads won't."

The United boss continued: "We have a challenge but we're good at challenges and we'll kick on from here."

Roy Keane has blasted Manchester United for the way the club handled his exit back in 2005.

The Cork native departed Old Trafford under a cloud after giving an interview to MUTV in which he criticised individual players after United had lost 4-1 to Middlesbrough. MUTV pulled the interview and Keane's 12-and-a-half year stint at the Red Devils was brought to an end shortly afterwards.

Speaking at a fundraiser for his first club, Rockmount, the 40-year-old said: "The problem was a lot of headlines came out that United pulled the programme. But there’d been a build-up of things before that.

‘‘That pre-season [then-assistant manager] Carlos Queiroz was really disrespectful to me on a number of occasions, any player who was there would back me up on that one. I always respected the people I was working with."

Keane, who now works as a pundit for ITV and columnist for The Sun on Sunday, said he was staggered how the club handled his exit. After being summoned for a meeting with the club's hierarchy the then-skipper was advised to bring his lawyer which he said was 'never a good sign'.

‘‘They had a statement ready and they said, ‘Roy, we think we’ve come to the end’ and I said, ‘You’re right, we have’. They slid a statement across the table to me. My lawyer nearly fell off the chair at this stage because he thought it was just going to be a chat and a fine.’’

The former Sunderland and Ipswich Town manager was particularly hurt that neither manager Sir Alex Ferguson or chief executive David Gill knew how long he had been playing for the club. Keane joined in 1993 but Gill and Ferguson said they wanted to thank him for '11 and-a-half years service.'

"They said, ‘What year did you come?’ I said, ‘The first year we won the double [the 1993-94 season]’ and that was it," said Keane.

He added: ‘‘They’d obviously insulted me once again and I said, ‘Am I okay to sign for another club?’ They said, ‘You can’ and of course the following Monday I found out I couldn’t sign for anyone else until January so despite the fact they didn’t get the dates that I signed for the club right they also lied to me about when I could sign for a club because otherwise I would have just stayed at United until January.

"I left that morning and really, that morning, looking back, I should have stopped playing then because they really got on my nerves, they frustrated me. I felt badly treated. I had done nothing wrong. I was injured. I couldn’t sign for anybody. I should have done my own homework. I should have said, ‘I’ll take the weekend, I’ll ring the PFA, get the legal side of it’.

"My lawyer was shocked but even the statement they slid across the table, they knew what they were doing, they wanted me out that morning.’’

Keane subsequently joined Celtic in December 2005 and won an SPL title and Scottish League Cup with the Hoops before retiring the following summer after getting medical advice to hang up his boots.

QPR captain Joey Barton has been charged by the FA for his clash with Manchester City duoSergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany during Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Etihad Stadium.

The Huyton-born midfielder reacted angrily after receiving a red card for elbowing Carlos Tevez off the ball and kneed Aguero in the thigh following a heated exchange with the Argentine.

After several City players tried to intervene, the 29-year-old then attempted to headbutt captain Vincent Kompany as he was dragged from the field.

His former City team-mate, Micah Richards, attempted to calm Barton but that did not stop him almost clashing with substitute Mario Balotelli before entering the tunnel.

An FA statement read: "The FA has today [Monday 14 May] charged Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton in relation to two acts of alleged violent conduct during Sunday’s match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

"Following the player’s dismissal in the 54th minute of the fixture, there followed two incidents involving Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany.

"As Barton had already been dismissed, both of these incidents fell outside of the jurisdiction of the referee.

"Barton has until 6pm on Tuesday 15 May to respond to the charges."

Following the match, the former City man took to Twitter to insist his actions were an attempt to goad an opposition player into being sent off.

The poster was in retaliation to comments made by Ferguson previously in the season when he said that City would never win the title 'in his lifetime'.

A City spokesperson said: "The creation of the tasteless material is in itself reprehensible. In accepting and brandishing it, Carlos has made a significant error of judgement.

"The club wishes to express its sincerest apologies to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United for any offence or distress caused."

Tevez has also apologised for the incident, claiming that he meant no disrespect to his former manager.

"I got carried away in the excitement of the moment and I certainly didn't mean any disrespect to Sir Alex Ferguson, who I admire as a man and a manager," Tevez said in a statement.
