'Why always me?' - Balotelli escort dons the same t-shirt that propelled the Manchester City striker to fame

Not one to shy from the limelight, Jennifer Thompson was seen in Bolton displaying the slogan made famous by the Italian striker presumably in a bid to drum up interest in her book

Why always you? Probably because all you've done in your 'career' is target and sleep with footballers you odious scruff...!

Sorry. Extra Time woke up on a particularly disappointing side of the bed this morning and to see the attention-seeking Jenny Thompson once again strutting around northern England has made the blood boil.

For those that do not know, Thompson has achieved a level of notoriety in the past month or two as it emerged she bedded Mario Balotelli. The former escort has also been caught in controversy in the past as rumours of an affair with Wayne Rooney at the 2010 World Cup surfaced.

179727hp2.jpg

Revealed! | Book highlights what to wear, where to go, how to bed a footballer...

Basically we don't see her as the nicest of characters and she has confirmed our suspicions by penning a book to detail her conquests. Should something so offensively egotistic and money-grabbing be fit for firewood? No, in our humble opinion. Still - it looks like we've inadvertantly plugged it...

As for Mario, well he has spoken rather candidly about his time at Manchester City, revealing that his point of reference in training is.... Carlos Tevez. OH MARIO!

Manchester United set for 'interesting' summer transfer window, reveals David Gill

The Red Devil's chief executive has revealed that a number of acquisitions could be made and expressed excitement at a "tense" end to the Premier League season

Apr 19, 2012 5:25:00 PM

135243hp2.jpg

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has revealed the club are set for an "interesting" summer transfer window.

Speaking to the club's official website, Gill, who has been with United since 1997, explained that work on potential transfer targets is being stepped up as the season comes to a close.

He said: "We're looking at all that. The work goes on all year round but obviously intensifies as we come to the end of the season in terms of players.

"There's various contracts we've got to do, we'll look at some acquisitions and there will be some players who will leave. It's an interesting time."

With the Red Devils currently five points clear of rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, Sir Alex Ferguson's men appear favourites to seal a 20th league title.

When asked whether he would have taken this position at the start of the season, Gill replied: "I think we all would.

"It's been an amazing run and it's going to be a tense end to the season. If we do it, it will be fantastic.

"This time of year's not good [for the nerves]. You do get tense but we've done very well and are in good shape now - five points ahead with four games to go. It's going to be tight but it's been wonderful."

Sheffield United striker Ched Evans found guilty of rape

The former Manchester City forward sexually abused a 19-year-old girl in May 2011 and has been sentenced to five years in prison, with Port Vale's Clayton McDonald cleared

Apr 20, 2012 3:24:00 PM

180573hp2.jpg

Sheffield United striker Ched Evans has been found guilty of rape.

The Wales international, 23, was judged by a jury to have sexually abused a 19-year-old girl in a Rhyl hotel room in May 2011, and has been sentenced to five years in prison, with the judge telling him that he could be released after half of that time has been served.

The former Manchester City forward was found to have forced himself on the woman, who was too drunk to be able to consent, an accusation which he denied.

Port Vale's Clayton McDonald, one of the striker's former City colleague, has been cleared of the same charge.

Evans' lawyers said on his behalf: "Ched Evans is shocked and extremely disappointed with the decision reached today by the Jury at Caernarfon Crown Court to convict him of the charge brought against him.

"Mr Evans firmly maintains his innocence in this matter and is being advised regarding an appeal of the decision.

"No further comment will be made whilst the legal process is ongoing."

United released a statement on their website after the verdict, which read: "The Club recognises the seriousness of these events and as such wishes to respond in a responsible way when it has taken sufficient time to consider the matter fully."

Evans, who moved to Bramall Lane from City in the summer of 2009, has scored 35 goals in 42 games for the League One club this season.

'The rules are not the same for everyone' - Mancini slams referees

Whilst the Italian refused to single out any incidents, his comments come in the light of Manchester United's Ashley Young facing accusations of diving in recent weeks

Apr 20, 2012 2:13:00 PM

By Tom McKeown

178731hp2.jpg

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has expressed his belief that “the rules are not the same for everyone” when it comes to refereeing decisions.

Carlos Tevez was booked for diving in the club’s 6-1 win over Norwich City last time out; a decision with which Mancini was clearly frustrated.

And, whilst the Italian refused to single anybody out, his comments come after Manchester United's Ashley Young received widespread criticism for penalties which he won against QPR and Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

“After some of the some of the situations I saw in the last three or four weeks, I think it is really difficult for us,” Mancini told reporters.

"When I was in Italy I always thought here [in England] there were the best referees. My idea has changed, probably.

"The rules are not the same for everyone."
Despite his side's recent renaissance and some of his squad publicly declaring their belief that they can overhaul Manchester United, Mancini maintains his stance that the title race is over.

"I am happy because they believe but, for me, I [still] have the same feeling. I think it is very difficult," he reiterated.

"Five points are too much and, I repeat, there are some strange situations that I do not like - we don't have any chance.

“I stay with my opinion for the next four weeks - I don't change. The title is gone."

Premier League Weekend Team News

A round-up of team news ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

Didier Drogba will miss Chelsea's Premier League game at Arsenal tomorrow. The striker picked up a knee injury in Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final first-leg win over Barcelona and will be reassessed ahead of Tuesday's second leg. David Luiz is out with a hamstring injury, while Branislav Ivanovic serves the second match of his domestic three-game ban.

Arsenal will have midfielders Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin back from hamstring injuries. Defender Laurent Koscielny returns from a two-game suspension, but on-loan midfielder Yossi Benayoun is ineligible against his parent club. Mikel Arteta will not recover from the ankle injury sustained against Wigan in time to feature again this season, while England midfielder Jack Wilshere (ankle) has already been ruled out along with German centre-back Per Mertesacker (ankle).

Newcastle vs Stoke

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been handed a series of fitness boosts ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Stoke. Defender James Perch (thigh), midfielders Cheick Tiote (hamstring), Danny Guthrie (calf) and Gabriel Obertan (ankle) are all back in training, as are striker Leon Best (knee) and midfielder Sylvain Marveaux (groin), both long-term absentees. Pardew has only Steven Taylor (Achilles) and Sammy Ameobi (knee) still on the sidelines for a potentially thrilling run-in.

Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant is a doubt after picking up a virus and will be assessed ahead of the Potters' trip to the north-east. Defender Andy Wilkinson is available again having recovered from a groin injury, while midfielder Salif Diao and forward Mamady Sidibe (both knee) remain sidelined.

QPR vs Tottenham

Younes Kaboul and Niko Kranjcar will miss Tottenham's Barclays Premier League game at QPR due to knee injuries. Manager Harry Redknapp says he has "four or five" injury concerns but refused to reveal which other players are doubts.

Ledley King's chronic knee problems always require him to have a fitness test the day before every game while long-term ankle injury victims Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson are definitely out.

Aston Villa vs Sunderland

Sunderland defender John O'Shea will return to the squad for Saturday's Premier League trip to Aston Villa. The Republic of Ireland international has missed the last five games with a calf problem sustained early in the 3-1 victory over QPR on March 24. However, midfielder Lee Cattermole remains on the sidelines with a knee problem and is joined by full-back Kieran Richardson (groin) and striker Connor Wickham (ankle).

Blackburn vs Norwich

Norwich will have striker James Vaughan back in the squad after a long-term knee injury and recent hamstring problem for Saturday's trip to Blackburn. Centre-back Zak Whitbread (calf) remains a doubt for the Barclays Premier League against relegation-threatened Rovers. Defenders Marc Tierney (groin) and Daniel Ayala (knee) are ruled out of the remainder of the season.

Blackburn will be without Grant Hanley as the central defender will miss the remainder of the season with an ankle ligament injury. Top scorer Yakubu has shaken off a knee problem however, while Junior Hoilett is also available after a hamstring niggle. Bradley Orr (Achilles) should also be fit but Martin Olsson (groin) is a doubt.

Bolton vs Swansea

Bolton boss Owen Coyle is hoping to have the same squad available that lost to Newcastle two weeks ago when the relegation-threatened Trotters resume their Barclays Premier league campaign against Swansea tomorrow. A couple of players are battling to overcome knocks but Coyle is confident they will be fit for the clash at the Reebok Stadium. Wanderers are still awaiting clearance from FIFA for former Rangers winger Gregg Wylde, while Lee Chung-yong (broken leg) is stepping up his training and may be fit to make a first-team comeback before the end of the season.

Swansea defender Alan Tate is expected to be out for a fortnight with a calf injury and will therefore miss Saturday's game. With the Swans safe from relegation manager Brendan Rodgers has said he wants to involve all members of the squad in the final four matches of the campaign. That could see the likes of defender Garry Monk, on-loan Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran and forwards Wayne Routledge, Luke Moore and Leroy Lita see more action.

Fulham vs Wigan

Wigan pair Shaun Maloney and Hugo Rodallega are hoping to return from knee injuries for Saturday's Premier League trip to Fulham. Midfielder Maloney missed Monday's win at Arsenal while striker Rodallega is bidding to prove his fitness after a six-week absence. Spanish midfielder Albert Crusat is definitely missing having been ruled out for up to two weeks with a calf injury suffered in training.
Strikers Pavel Pogrebnyak (ankle) and Andrew Johnson (thigh) return to the Fulham squad. But winger Bryan Ruiz is recovering after surgery on a broken metatarsal and will be out for 10 weeks. Defender Stephen Kelly will be back in training next week following a wrist injury suffered against Chelsea while midfielder Steve Sidwell continues to recover from a hernia problem.

Sunday's Premier League Fixtures

Wolves vs Manchester City

Striker Mario Balotelli is Manchester City's only absentee for Sunday's Premier League trip to Wolves. The Italian misses the trip as he completes a three-match ban for his sending off in the defeat at Arsenal a fortnight ago. Manager Roberto Mancini reports no other injury concerns with Yaya Toure having made a successful return from a knee injury against Norwich last week.

Wolves goalkeeper Dorus de Vries is poised to make his first Premier League start for the club.
De Vries, signed last summer from Swansea, will replace Wayne Hennessey who is side-lined for up to six months with knee ligament damage. On-loan defender Sebastien Bassong is available after serving a one-game ban for his red card against Arsenal while winger Matt Jarvis, rested against Sunderland, is in contention to return to the side.

Manchester United vs Everton

Sir Alex Ferguson has reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of Manchester United's Premier League encounter with Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday. Paul Pogba (ankle) and Anderson (hamstring) are missing for the remainder of the season but were not expected to be involved anyway. Michael Owen (thigh) could be available for next week's derby duel with Manchester City, when victory will seal a 20th title if United overcome the Merseysiders this weekend.

Royston Drenthe will once again be missing from the Everton squad. Drenthe was left out of the Toffees' 18-man party for last Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool after being "the subject of a disciplinary matter" and manager David Moyes has confirmed the on-loan Real Madrid winger will not be involved at Old Trafford. Defender Leighton Baines and midfielder Jack Rodwell are ruled out due to hamstring injuries, but wideman Steven Pienaar is back having been cup-tied for the Liverpool match.

Liverpool vs West Brom

Goalkeepers Jose Reina and Alexander Doni return from suspension for Liverpool's Premier League match at home to West Brom on Sunday. Reina is set to reclaim his starting place after a three-match absence but Brad Jones, who deputised in last weekend's FA Cup semi-final, will hope to remain in the squad. Left-back Jose Enrique could return, having missed out at Wembley, while striker Andy Carroll will be looking to retain his place after scoring the winning goal in the last two matches.

West Brom striker Marc-Antoine Fortune is a fitness doubt after he suffered a hamstring injury during last week's 1-0 home win over QPR and was substituted after an hour. If Fortune is ruled out, Shane Long will be in contention to replace him. Central defender Jonas Olsson is expected to return after pulling out of the Rangers clash during the warm-up with a tight groin. Craig Dawson is on stand-by if the Swede breaks down again. Midfielders Zoltan Gera and James Morrison (both knee) and right-back Steven Reid (foot) remain on the injury list.

Mancini congratulates Manchester United for winning the title despite closing gap to three points

The Italian dismissed his side closing their deficit at the top of the table to three points and congratulated Sir Alex Ferguson for winning the league ahead of the derby next week

Apr 22, 2012 9:41:00 PM

By Alex Fisher at Molineux

180953hp2.jpg

Roberto Mancini has congratulated Manchester United for winning the Premier League title despite his Manchester City side closing the gap to three points with a 2-0 win over Wolves.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for City midway through the first half, and Samir Nasri doubled their lead and secured the three points in the second half with a low strike following a neat pass from Carlos Tevez.

If City win their final three games, they will likely be champions but Mancini was quick to rule his side out of the running.

“Only one team [United] can win this title,” he told reporters.

“It’s not in our hands, we have three points less.

“After the derby we play two difficult games, against Newcastle who are fighting for Champions League and against QPR who are fighting relegation. I think we have three difficult games.

“If United win 10-0 against Swansea and 2-0 against Sunderland, and we only win 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 we arrive in the same position.”

Despite his side's victory, Mancini admitted he would like to have seen more, and believes Wolves could have snatched a point had it not been for a great save by Joe Hart from Stephen Fletcher with the score at 1-0.

“It [the save] was important because he saved a difficult moment,” he added. “For this reason I was upset with my strikers because we didn’t close this game before.

“We had chance to close this game and if you don’t close this game you can concede a goal. That moment can change the game.”

However, the Italian did show his delight that City had ground out the victory but admitted he was sorry that the result condemned Wolves to Championship football next season.

“It was a good day because we won a difficult game,” he continued.

“Wolves are relegated but I don’t think they deserve to be there because for me they are a good team and I am very sorry for them.

“They fought on every ball and they played very well and probably we didn’t do a good performance today but for us it was important to win.”

With the Manchester derby just eight days away Mancini called on his players to focus on that game and do everything they could to win the game to put a smile on the faces of the City supporters.

“We have the derby, we want to play for our supporters and we want to win,” he said.

“We got them a gift in the FA Cup in January, now it’s finished but Monday will be a different game.

“They [United] are used to pressure, for us it will be different because for us it’s the first time and we’ve don’t have any pressure because we don’t have a chance to win.”

Mancini also gave a message directly to United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: “Congratulations for this season, and for this title.”

Leeds Chairman Ken Bates has revealed that the club have made a final contract offer to club captain Robert Snodgrass, who has just twelve months left on his existing deal.

Speaking to Yorkshire Radio, Bates said: 'Snodgrass is a very gifted player and a leader. Ideally, Neil would like to build his team around him, both as a dynamic midfielder/winger and as a captain because he is good captain material.'

'We have made the offer and we think it is as far as we can go and we should have an answer sooner rather than later.'

Neil Warnock has expressed his desire to keep Snodgrass at the club so that he can build a team around him as the Leeds aim to get promoted back to the Premiership next season.

'Snoddy is one player I would like to see at the club next season. We can build a team around him and that is what I want to do,' said Warnock.

'He is out of contract next summer and I have had talks with his agent about signing a new contract. I just want him to give me one full season to try to get the club promoted and if I don’t do it, I would be happy to have a clause inserted in any new deal saying he can leave for a set fee.'

Snodgrass has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs for a summer transfer, notably Norwich City who have poached Bradley Johnson and Jonny Howson from the Yorkshire club in the past couple of years.

Andy Carroll has spoken of the drastic change of lifestyle he has undergone since his transfer to Liverpool, which has included cutting out the boozy nights out that he developed a reputation for during his time at Newcastle.

During his time as England manager Fabio Capello told the media that he had private words with Carroll regarding his alcohol intake stating that 'Andy likes to drink beer' and that 'he needs to improve, to drink less.'

Speaking regarding his Anfield reformation Carroll said: 'When I came here I changed my lifestyle and everything about it and settled down. I have my girlfriend Stacey with me and I love it here. I’m settled down now.'

'I’ll go down the street and people will say to me, 'Oh, you were in the boozer last week', but it is just rumours going round. I laugh it off, really.'

'To be honest, I don't go out at all. My family know it’s not true and the club know it’s not true, so that is all that matters.'

'All I do now after games is sit in the house with my girlfriend, chill out and watch movies. I'm on the Xbox or I’ll watch TV.'
