Charity now extends to Filipino community in Singapore

SINGAPORE : The Gifts of Love Charity Gala has exceeded its target of one million dollars for the Community Chest and Philippine Bayanihan Society (Singapore).

A total of S$1.128 million was raised from the charity gala dinner and auction on Friday evening.

President S R Nathan, who graced the event, also had a specially created calligraphy piece auctioned off in aid of the fund-raising efforts.

He chose the traditional Chinese character for "love" with the embedded character which means "heart" to highlight the message of loving sincerely and genuinely.

His calligraphy was presented to CapitaLand Hope Foundation which donated S$100,000 to meet the needs of the community.

The funds will benefit about 300,000 people, including needy children and families, youths-at-risk, persons with disabilities and the elderly.

The money will also help the Bayanihan Society (Singapore) provide skills training and development opportunities for the Filipino community in Singapore.

I was invited and declined immediately. Donate to foreigners while my people are suffering. What a fucked up event... as usual our president shames us again and again.

I was hoping they would ask the foreigners to donate.

How come president preside over charity for foreigners?......

For those locals who donate, I just hope they,their children ,friends or relatives do not lose their jobs or monies to those Pinoy recipients in future !

Pinoy lovers who have been importing and supporting them ,kindly make a trip to the Philippines and see what the future of Pinoy infested Sillipore will be like.

First n foremost, charity begins at home. Let the Phil Embassy take care its own people.
Sgporeans always got milked. These pinoys always out in our streets boldly asked for
donations(w/o CID permit), each time natural disasters happens in Phils, eg floods,
earthquake, landslide, tornadoes etc..
