SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 33-year-old man who's believed to be responsible for at least nine cases of cheating, theft and robbery islandwide.
He struck over 11 months, between June last year and May this year.
The suspect would con victims into believing that he had jobs readily available for them.
He would usually request for the handphones of the victims in return for job offers.
The victims would then be directed by the culprit to different places to carry out the 'jobs', only to find themselves cheated after they arrive at the destinations.
In the latest case, a victim was also assaulted when he confronted the culprit for the return of his handphone after his suspicions were aroused.
Following an islandwide manhunt, the suspect was arrested Thursday night at Blk 192 Toa Payoh Lorong 4.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday for an offence of Robbery with Hurt.
If convicted, he can be jailed for up to 20 years and receive a minimum 12 strokes of the cane.
