Cop's wife and her lover charged with beating him
SHAH ALAM: A policeman's wife and her alleged lover have been charged with beating the lance corporal until he fell into a coma.
Kasturi Saminathan, 27, and Stevan Athimoloo, 22, were charged with intentionally causing serious injuries to L/Kpl G. Vimal Raj with a piece of wood at 1am at a car park in Hulu Yam, Selayang on Nov 11.
They pleaded not guilty.
Sessions judge Hasbi Hasan fixed bail at RM7,000 for each of the accused.
Kasturi's lawyer M. Manoharan told the court that there was a doubt in the case.
"I cannot believe a wife could beat the husband. Its usually the husband who beats the wife.
"My client has a petite frame and is young. The very notion that she beat her husband who is a policeman is unbelievable," he said.
The two accused had claimed that they were beaten by several policemen while in custody.
Stevan's lawyer Rajpal Singh said his client was hit in various parts of the body.
"He was kicked in the face causing him to be unable to eat for four days," said Rajpal.
