THERE were no 'shingz' or 'boomz' moments last night at the Miss Singapore World finals, but some of the replies during the question and answer segment raised eyebrows and more than a few chuckles. 'One interesting way to recycle will be to recycle cloth,' said finalist Ye Jiahui, 25, in response to a question about interesting ways to recycle.

'You can cut it into different shapes and sew it into the (sic) blanket.' A few stunned seconds of silence later, and the master of ceremonies quickly cut in with: 'Well, I hope the blanket keeps you warm.'

Another popular finalist, Ms Krizzia Sayson, at 17 the youngest contestant in the pageant, replied that she would promote 'Green mothers, which lead to green children, green families, green cities and a green world', in response to how she would promote eco-friendliness if she should win.
