This composite shot was taken as a summer electrical storm hit Athens, Greece. Photographer Chris Kotsiopoulos dashed from his home to the Olympic Stadium when he heard the thunder and lightning and came back with this awesome shot.

As we hit the season for summer storms, we republish some of the best lightning photos we've featured over the past year or so.

We follow that picture with another shot from Athens -
a flash of lightning illuminates the sky over the Parthenon on the Acropolis during a thunderstorm.

A bolt of lightning strikes a yacht's mast. Amateur photographer Francis Evans from Truro, Cornwall, decided to take a photograph from his window on the off-chance that he could capture the lightning. He did - hitting his neighbour's 18ft yacht.
