    Default Gms 奔丧 gks

GMS happens to be in HK now. Upon hearing the news of GKS passing, he has cancelled all his personal and business appointments there, trying to change his return airticket to as soon as possible to come back in time to pay his last respects, though it's spring peak season and will incur hefty penalty. GMS and GKS are both Gohs, but more importantly both are economists trained acadmically and socialist oriented politically. GMS took GKS as mentor during his schooldays in SAP school upkeeping Chinese standards in Singapore and SAF OCS, upkeeing defence of Singapore, and in NUS guided invaluably immensely by theorems and theses written by GKS.

People have to understand, or at least listen, consider and try to understand, why GMS is doing all these. It's for you. Not himself. He's from River Valley SAP stream, Hwa Chong JC, NUS economics honours graduate, even in NS he was Lieutenant, promoted to Captain in reservist. Why is he doing all these? Because all have been going wrong and he wanted do his part to correct it for you, your country and his country.

Many ministers went GKS funeral today and spoke about the GKS virtue of frugality. What's worse than hyprocrites? Hypocrites who demand multi-million dollars or else would be corrupt or find another job that pays better.

He's alright in Chinese. Best ever since Low Thia Khiang and Tang Liang Hong. Even today, no match among all PAP candidates. But his English has to be improved upon. He'll work hard on that.

Wahhh same ideology same upbringing same ecetera ecetera only different party. So shall we prepare a state funeral for GMS as well? Now I understand why Yellow_people signature is like that.

A party's name is just a name. When it strays from it's foundational principles, keeping the same name doesn't mean it's the same anymore.

It is a bit of exaggeration here but I do want to pay Dr Goh my last respect very much. Initially, from the sources of information from OMY, I thought that Dr Goh will be cremated by Tuesday. My wife has suggested me to make arrangement to fly back early by Monday. But later on, a clearer picture emerges that there will be a state funeral and we will be able to pay our last respect from 20 May to 23 May at parliament house.

I will be able to fly back in time to pay him my last respect on 20 May after all.

Ramseth has got it right though. It is about the core values that we share as Democratic Socialist that matters, even though we are from different political parties. I have written a tribute for Dr Goh Keng Swee in my blog:

Hello ? GKS already mati, you still want him to work hard on his English ?

BTW, when GMS returned to attend GKS' funeral, would the scene be as dramatic as 陳真 attending 靃元甲 funeral ?

Yes, and I meant GKS. So was GKS a good speaker ? I didn't get to see or listen to him when he was alive.

Yes, very good English orator, but haven't heard him in Chinese before.

I am very delighted to see the GS of NSP spending more time in HK than staying in SG to serve the people of Tampines

No, he mumbled. In fact, he hated public speaking. He usually read from his script, face down at his speech and hardly looking at his audience.

He was better known for his great mind, good talent spotter (unlike LKY).
