Ex-NEA officer on graft charge

Tan See Long, 53, allegedly obtained $10,000 from Mr Teo Hark Piang, a director of Union Energy Corporation, as a reward to assist the company to secure contracts to supply gas to hawker centres under his supervision. The alleged offence took place at Environment Building in Scotts Road on Oct 5, 2007. Tan's case was adjourned to April 13 for him to seek legal advice. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years. His $10,000 bail has been extended.
