There is nothing you can do about it.

Sporns are FTs in other countries.
And other country nationals are FTs in SG.

It has been like that all the time. In the past, present and in the future.
That's the way it is. With globalization the situation will be more fluid.

Sporns who fail to see the reality and continue this bitching and barking is not going to change the situation the slightest. They better get used to this fact. Buck up and get real to face the new competition.

No excuses. No Ifs, No Buts.

Apparently, the feeling that times are changing and the threat to the comfort zone (that was taken for granted all these years) has made some Sporns angry and bitter.

The thought that a 'fat' Sporn is no match against a lean and mean hungry Filipino or PRC national is troubling to many who have got used to the old way of thinking. That they will be protected and secured all their lives.

There is no soft option. Like it or not, accept it.
Those with recalcitrant die hard attitutes will have to make way for those lean and mean FTs, who will one day be Sporns themselves and then it will be their turn to bitch and bicker against the new FT arrivals.

The cycle goes on and on. Life goes on.

They can cum but reward Sinkies accordingly... $$$. I want a value with my Citizenship.

You want a free ride. Just recall what LKY said many yeaars ago.

" I will not allow Singaporeans to ride in the back of foreigners. As long as I am alive, I will not allow that soft option ". And he allwoed many Malaysian workers in to reduce the manpower shortage.

He was referring to the very selective and choosy Singaporeans not willing to take up jobs in some companies due to things like Scope work, Color of the factory uniform etc.

Agreed. Foreigners are everywhere and before the war, Singapore was awash with foreigners as well.

The difference this time is that their presence and the policies which support their presence disadvantage locals.

If they competed with Singaporeans at Singapore wages, then it would be a different story. By undercutting Singaporean wages, they have become a problem.

And you believed him then as you do now that we need FTs to create jobs???

NBCB! Stop listening to the SIWs and the 154TH. Use your eyes and your ears to connect to your brain and then think. These scums will make up stories to spread their propaganda. If ONE person doesn't like a uniform they will make it seem like the entire country doesn't like the uniform. If no one dislikes the uniform, the y will create someone to dislike the uniform. The PAP are liars and the 154th are worse than prostitutes!

What we have is a group of people pillaging their own counry, knowing full_well that their time in power is coming to an end. While pillaging they also are hopeful that the new citizens will vote for them.

The PAPies have no idea whatsoever in terms running an economy. They are good policemen and profiteers because it is easy to be so. But running an economy against other countries is where they fail miserably.

The PAP can an will be voted out in the next GE because the country and its long-time citizens need it for their survival. Believe it or not, you are fighting for yours and your family's survival against an incompetent and greedy government and their policies.

Merdeka from PAP!

Every developed nation has minimum wage laws to protect against illegal alieans coming in to enjoy higher wages, even if they are not given minimum wages, what they get relative to the minimum wage is much better than in their home country's.

Every developed country has stringent immigration and foreign worker laws because they know that without these laws they will get an influx of foreign workers intent on leveraging on the developed counry'S earning power relative to their homeland.

This is very basic International Economics. The PAP knows this very well. The PAP and all of us also know very well that we are a small nation without much space and yet they allow over a million FTs to come here in such a short time.

Use your brain! The PAP is your greatest enemy.

And you think that the attitudes of locals are as long before. Har working, looking for opportunities and making initiatives ?.
Apparently not. today's youngsters are into iphones, online gaming and hanging around in dile groups. They are not hungry anymore. They have a house , food on the table and pocket money from doting parents.

Do you thing these fellows have the mettle and gumption needed to keep the economy growing ?

I met a cabby the other day. He told me that the biggest mistake he made was having kids. The two teenagers are never home, hanging around with friends and surfing, online gambling etc.

Just a few months ago, that 52 year old DJ, Douglas Olivero was whacked and left in a coma at 2 am in the night, for asking some idler kids to move aside from the pathway, for him to go past. Idle minds are devils workshops. This is the type of generation that is in store for Singapore.

I hope you look at the macro picture rather than hurl curses at the PAP, which is not the topic of this thread. Sometimes hatred for something can make people blind to other things.

This issue of undercutting. On the surface it is a valid point.
Lets explore this further.

Take this PRC . He works at the same job as the Sporn but at 40% below the latter's wages. He has no CPF, no medisave and has no privilege to easily hop jobs.

Over and above that, he has to pay a bulk amount of his salary to some Sporn household to rent a room. Mostly the household that rent out their room is in hardship themselves. In effect he is subsidizing the sporn household who is leveraging on his privilege to own a house to earn some extra income to help his tight financial situation.

There are over 1000,000 PRs and FTs that rent rooms, flats from Sporns. Sporns who lock up a room in their flat, rent out and then move over to their parents house etc and collect rents.

So, in this kind of setup, the Sporns are benefiting a lot out of the FTs. So many desperate households are able to make ends meet by living off this rental income. The FTs and PRs are actually ploughing back most of what they earn back into the economy, and the beneficiaries are locals.
That is the simple fact. Sporns are really benefiting a lot from the FTs to the extent that they are taking advantage of the foreigner with more greedy demands. The going rental for a 3 room flat is about 1500 S$.
On top of it there are over 10,000 Sporn housing and rental agents who also squeeze some more out of the FTs.

So, who is benefiting more here?
Locals or the FTs or PRs ?
Get the picture ?

The job of the government is to help the economy as a whole. Not a specific group of Sporns who is asking for protection from low wage FTs
That is not macro management.

Singaporeans as any other people in the world would rather have a spare room for their guests which includes their grandchildren.

FTs take away their jobs and those of their children and for those with jobs, job security is high on their minds.

You bring in a problem and you say they are your solution?

Without the hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of FTs on this tiny island, the elderly or even middle aged Singaporeans will be much better off with better job security and a home they can call their own.

Which bloody country has so many FTs as a percentage of citizens? What kind of a life do you want people to live in? We all need privacy and a home to call our own.

80% of white-collar FTs are not needed because we have Singaporeans who can and are willing to do the job.

You still haven't answered why every other developed country has minimum wage and strict immigration laws except Singapore? And compound this with Singapore being such a small land-care country with an infrastructure that was never planned for the popuation we have today.

The PAP is not a government. It is a bunch of incompetent, self_praising, self-ritheous group of people that govern for the benefit of a few. Why do you say about that?

Out of the 80+ PAP MPs, supposedly the best amongst their group of thousands, less than a handful will be able to earn a living as well as they do today.

Name me 10 previous PAP MPs who are doing better today that they did when they were with the PAP. I make it easier for you. Name me 5.

the cheap labour pap brings in is to help the rich businessmen make more profits at the expense of the locals whose cost of living is so high they cannot make ends meet at the same salary..period

Its a fact that the gov't is driving up costs in Spore, while the majority of "lesser mortal" wages have not kept up. So whether locals, FT or PR everyone is suffering except the PAP who are protected by their super duper salaries

As to what the gov'ts job is, it is obviously to make LKY & company lots of money. If you don't believe ask LKY what his net worth is & why he is trying to prevent Sporeans from finding out. The abolishment of death taxes was a self serving policy & not for the general good of Spore .

I think that even the 66% of Sporeans are beginning to realize that they are being left out & that's why the PAP is worried about the next elections.

People might flame me for this, but what you said is actually quite true. Singapore had its origins as a quiet Malay fishing village. Then the British came, unannounced and uninvited, and later on they got the Chinese and the Indians in as cheap labour in their quest to make this island a lucrative trading emporium for the British Empire "for which the sun never sets".

And much later on, more than a century later, the Japanese army with albeit the similar territorial motivations came in a brutal fashion and brought suffering to them and the others.

So who could the Malays really turn to in these unsolicited events? They had to accept it and continue living their lives no?

I really don't mind having some hardworking and decent foreigners around. Not as many as there are now, but having some of them who are really hardworking and decent people is not a problem for me.
It's some of the pappies who need to be voted out of parliament and if it happens that some of these are million dollar ministars, so be it.
