Malaysia RTM will show 24 live and 11 delay telecast for the World Cuo out of total 64 match. They don't even need to pay TV license.

SEPANG: RTM has been given exclusive terrestial broadcasting rights to the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa from June 11 to July 12, said Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He said RTM had been given the rights to air 35 of the 64 World Cup matches, of which 24 would be telecast live while 11 would be broadcast as delayed telecasts.

He said the matches would be aired on both RTM1 and RTM2 with almost all of the live matches being telecast around 11pm.

“There are millions of football fans in Malaysia who are waiting in anticipation for the 2010 World Cup to kick off and RTM will be meeting their sporting needs,” he said Friday after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding for RTM to be given the rights to air the World Cup matches.

The minister said more than 18 million cumulative Malaysian viewers were expected to follow both live and delayed telecast matches during the competition, adding that RTM had played “host” to the World Cup in 1974, 1978, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006.

“We even have a theme for this World Cup period which is 1Malaysia, 1World cheer,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Daily Chilli earlier reported that customers of satellite pay-TV service Astro will be able to watch all 64 matches, while those on the Astro B.yond service will be able to watch them in high-definition.

Singaporeans can watch RTM1 then. With aerial antennae or booster, can also watch RTM2.

Those live near JB border like Woodland/Sembawang/Punggol/Sengkang can. But those live in South can try Indon TV. Too bad for those live in central like AMK/Bishan.

Malaysia got wrong priorities. They should use the money for investments. Good shares out there - Citibank, AIG, Lehman Brothers.
