OAKVILLE, Canada : Chez Reavie stretched his lead at the Canadian Open to three strokes after two rounds and the 26-year-old American had a long night's sleep as well over his nearest rival.

Eric Axley made a bogey on his final hole, the par-4 ninth, here on Saturday morning when play resumed at the five million-dollar US PGA Tour event, falling to three strokes behind his countryman after his brief morning's work.

Reavie posted a seven-under 64 on Friday in the second round, which began late due to severe storm delays Thursday. When darkness fell Friday, 63 players were still on the course needing to finish Saturday morning.

Reavie, who seeks his first PGA crown, stood on 13-under 129 after 36 holes with Axley reaching the clubhouse in second on 132 and two more early risers, England's Brian Davis and American Nicolas Thompson, sharing third on 133.

Thompson parred his final hole while Davis finished off a bogey-free round of 64 with a birdie at 18.

Americans Stephen Marino, Billy Mayfair, Anthony Kim and Briny Baird were on 134, Kim and Baird after a morning finish.

Seven others on 135 included home-nation home Mike Weir, trying to become the first Canadian winner of the event since Pat Fletcher in 1954. Weir parred the 17th and birdied the 18th Saturday to finish his second round.

Former Masters champion Weir, a 38-year-old lefthander who defeated Tiger Woods in match play at last year's Presidents Cup in Montreal, has missed five cuts and posted only two top-10 finishes in 17 starts this season.

Two-time defending champion Jim Furyk, who finished in a tie for fifth at the British Open last week, carded a three-under 68 Friday and was nine adrift.
