SINGAPORE: Some top hotel chefs have landed themselves in hot soup, for allegedly receiving bribes from a seafood supplier.

About 30 Chinese restaurant chefs are now helping the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau with investigations.

Since the probe began, as many as 18 chefs have resigned from their Chinese restaurants, or have been asked to leave.

It is believed that some of the chefs received commissions each time they ordered items, like shark's fin, from the supplier.

Should be a honest mistake by the seafood supplier claimed and record all the kickbacks as commission paid to the chef.

After the CPIB it would be IRAS...and the whole machinery hitting out at full force on the greedy crooky cooks.

I wonder about giving higher salaries as a solution to & preventing corruption

Has that really prevented corruption in the gov't

When you have a poor system of checks, you'll of course have abuses

The reverse will happen because the more money people have, the more greedy they will become.

Looking at what's going on in Spore, I think there's lots & lots of money being made under the table. Why else are there so many white elephants being created

This is from a gov't which doesn't believe in charity, "social" welfare, helping its own citizens, ...

No money how to help? Print more paper money?

People who makes money straight and hard will get taxed making them poorer.

People who got real "perks" under the table has to do it big to worth the jail term.

Society looks down on the poor but envies (rich) whores.

CPIB only catches small crooked shrimps ; they missed all the big whales.

does that mean the restaurant food in sinapore will taste like shit now. better to eat in western restaurant then.
