Work till you drop? This iis what happen to someone who work at 65 years old. How come the company do not know of the missing employee until the family had to inform them?

Worker found in Newater tank

WHEN dinner never came last Thursday night, Madam Susan Ang became worried about the whereabouts of her husband. By the next morning, with still no word from the 65-year-old engineer, Madam Ang decided to visit his employer Keppel Seghers at the Ulu Pandan Newater Plant, which it operates.

Hearing of his disappearance, Keppel Seghers and national water agency PUB mounted a search immediately for Mr Michael Choo Quee Hock.

At about 3pm, staff who had been combing the Ulu Pandan Water Reclamation Plant, where the Newater plant is located, found Mr Choo floating in a water tank.

The 3m to 4m high tank contained sewage water about 1.8m deep. It is understood a fibreglass cover was also found. The police and Civil Defence were immediately summoned, but it was too late.

Officers who pulled Mr Choo out of the water using a ladder and ropes said he showed no signs of life. He also appeared bloated. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, said a Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman.

Earlier media reports said the man left for work as usual on Thursday morning. He went for lunch around 11am and returned at about noon. After that, he was not heard from again.

Madam Ang felt something was wrong when her husband, who usually buys dinner and delivers it to her workplace, did not turn up. Her repeated calls to him went unanswered.

It is understood that the bespectacled, clean-cut man was in good health and was feeling well that day.

When contacted, Madam Ang declined to comment. Mr Choo, who leaves behind his wife, two sons and two grandsons, was cremated on Monday afternoon.

The police have classified the case as an unnatural death and are investigating.

They assumed that everyone working in a large water treatment plant, often hide in some remote corners to sleep, have extended breakfat, tea breaks & lunch; or gone off outside for an OFFICIAL BUSINESS just like working ine the ASS a F@$#!., :(

That is why, when you are not around for many hours, or even many days; that is not unusual.

But being dead in a water tank...is UNUSUAL :p

y he still working @ 65? ... shudnt he retired @ 62? ...

With the cost of the average p-hole going through the stratosphere the middle class will have to continue working past 65 years of age to pay off the debt. The middle class today that is buying the BTOs from 500k onwards and committ themselves to a long-term mortgage will have to work till they are 80 or till they drop dead; like the late Mr. Choo. Whichever comes first. In fact some minister even commented recently that Sinkies will need to work till 80 years of age. All you need to do is find an employer that is willing to hire you at that age.
