A 10% GDP growth will give LHL at least two months bonus which is at least $200k. What does a 10% growth do for the cardboard collector except higher cost of living due to increased demand for limited supply?

As long as the ft floodgate is left open, trash will always flood in, only at what speed. In comparison, sinkieland will always be better and can earn more than the shitholes they crawl out from. There is no turning back now, high no. of trash will be in sg to stay. These trash aren't disunited like chow sinkies and chinks, they bring their villagers and friends into sg whenever there are job opportunities.
The poor trash aside, you have all the money launderers in sinkieland. When I was younger, it's mainly the indo money launderers but now you have all nationalities, niggers included. They will keep things expensive as they hide their billions here. They are protected by sg law and all the NS slaves while they enjoy their wealth and privacy in safety.
No one likes to get pay cut, face retrenchment and have pay stagnant. Sinkies are not used to these. Sinkies are an entitled lot, expecting salary increment yearly. They are also very selfish. As long as they have their pay increased, sgd is strong that they can go shop and eat in JB and other countries, they do not care about who's running sg and if sg is deteriorating. Their national goal is to buy more properties and cars, for the middle and higher income class sinkies. This group will only join you to rejoy of lower gdp in the hope that they can buy properties or Coe cheaper. But once their income drops and they still can't afford more, they will pray for higher gdp and pap to remain in power to make them rich again.
Sinkies like you complain of overcrowding because you are one of those who haves and can take advantage of the situation if prices drop in sg. However, many have not accumulated as much as you in the good times when sg benefitted greatly from opening the floodgate. The world has changed, you see communist countries opening up to capitalism but not capitalism closing up to become communism/socialism. Even Bhutan is opening up to the world. The times that I could easily get a seat in the bus in sg when I was young would never be here again. Sg govt did not build so many apartments and mrt lines for them to service just a population of 3-4 millions. You want more facilities, build more hospitals? Whose going to pay for these? Between a choice of paying themselves more or paying for the people, they will of course take the first option and that is not just in sg but governments around the world.
Jijejie, try to live continuously in another country for 5 years and more. You will appreciate it that you are lucky in sg. I guess you know that and that's why you are still living in sg and taking advantage of what you can there.

But soon these effects will magnify and spread to the rest of the 69.9%. By then it will be too late for SG

The poor is the bottom 5% or 10% of the society and these group benefits from all the bits of welfare (govt grant, bursaries, cheaper rented housing, etc) that the government gives out. Yes, when cost of living goes up, food and other basic necessities get more expensive for them as for everyone else. However, this group does not feel that it's because of pap, they are not political aware (even for many not poor and well educated ones), they may think it's just a way of life and thank goodness with all the pap goodies or their lives could be worse. Try to volunteer to man election booths, you will see how many of these including the old limping fools in tattered clothes who drop their votes into pap boxes.
It's those lower and middle lower income groups who are worst affected. Some of whom are sandwiched generation with poor unemployed parents to take care of. Sg did not have dole program for the old and the responsibilites fall onto their low-middle income children to pay for them. Again, these people aren't politically aware.
Those who are politically aware are a small portion who cares about the country and their fellow countrymen and those who used to be financially comfortable but became disadvantaged when the policies changed to affect them negatively. How to change sg like that?

Yes gst is also charged to cooking oil , flour etc that is also used in temple kitchen. Luckily your temple absorb all these cost for u.
Are you suggesting that pap policies dont affect the poor? the pap appears to have many grants and welfare schemes. Go and speak to the poor and know how difficult it is for any of them to get that grant that pap publicised.

The Communist philosophy is to make their citizens busy working and half hungry all the time. This ensures that the citizens are easily controlled as they are busy working and have no time to think of how to improve their future.
PAP's philosophy is not much different. Keep Singaporeans busy with materialism, upgrade and high cost of living. Get Singaporeans to work hard throughout their life. No time for them to relax as there are high bills to pay. No time for them to think of how to better their future. Such Singaporeans end up naive and easily controlled by the pap.

Low GDP growth is no good but if it means that the ratio of real economic activities take up more of the GDP than fake financial economic activities then Singapore comes back to safety. Overly high financial economic growth is taking steroids by the bucket full. It is living on borrowed time and will come back to haunt you with a greater impact. Building small ugly coffins for people to reside and claim it is worth XXX dollars is delusional when overdone.
