Forgive the pun but here is the taste of what goes on in the elite Admin Service and those that run GLCs

Surprisingly food overtook Golf in Singapore sometime in the early 90s and it has now become the basis of building relationships, currying favours and building bridges with the Political elites and their families.

The competition has been ramping up over the years and it is now totally global as Singapore is just too small. Gone are the days when you casually mention your favourite tipple of whiskey (never brandy, port is ok) and gone are the days when elites go for corporate tuition on wines which was all the rage some decades ago. Nowadays if you offer to show your wine collection, nobody gives a fuck.

The trick is to build a small list of best dishes both in hawker centres and expensive restaurants, some over key cities around the world . Some actually take cooking tuition and trained to cook a few selective dishes. In some cases these highly ambitious chaps hire well known chefs to train them at home. The truly ambitious ones have a second kitchen for this very purpose.

Here are some interesting food episodes that has surfaced over the recent years amongst the elites.

1) Philip Yeo and his acquisition of Delifrance and why his followers told him that he was right.
2) The PM sec who went to France to be trained as a professional chef
3) Ong Ke Yung and why asked Sumiko Tan to meet him at a certain location
4) SR Nathan and his list mentioned a few times
5) Some queuing up to buy chicken wings - prior to this I am told chicken wings was never on anyone's list. With that signal, it has made the list.
