Trump is not building a wall around the perimeter of Mexico. The wall will be built to prevent illegal entry into the country along the US-Mexico border.
Every government has an obligation to its citizens to protect the borders. Try getting into the USA without the proper paperwork via one of its airports. You'll be interrogated, locked up and dumped on the next plane back to where you came from.
What's the point of having such tight controls at airports if the southern border with Mexico has not existent entry controls. You secure your house by locking all doors when you're not in. You don't just barricade the front door and leave the all the other doors and windows wide open.
What Trump is doing is straightforward common sense. More jobs, better security, lower taxes, smaller government, less red tape. I can understand him being ridiculed if he cannot deliver on his promises. However to take him to task for his sound policies is insane. People seem to have lost their minds over his win.
Just examine what has been said and what the actions to follow. The answer is crystal clear.
$146 million per year ...it will take a century to pay off even if the low estimation is used. This is not Mexico paying for the wall; it is Americans paying for it. No money comes from Mexico! And Mexico won't be cooperating with the Americans on border security if the aid is stopped.

The truth about Trump's wall is that even before Obama, there already was a physical wall at some parts of the US-mexico border.
Mexico will pay for it, one way or another, that I assure you. 
The wall is nothing new. Funding was approved more than 10 years ago but the political will to build it wasn't there.
Trump does not have to reinvent the wheel for either the wall or the deportation of illegal immigrants. All he has to do is enforce the laws of the land.
The current wall is porous and might as well not be there.
