The End of China Inc?

As time is running out for China to pay off its bad debts, 101 East investigates if this could be the end of China Inc.

There's a magic formula to becoming a millionaire in China - borrow big to earn big.

For years, individuals, state-owned companies and municipalities have taken massive loans to chase the Chinese dream.

Now it's payback time, but a severe economic slowdown means many are struggling to pay their debts.

Entire neighbourhoods have become "ghost towns", industrial companies sit idle and the unemployed are growing desperate.

Government economists claim China has enough in its coffers to cover the bad loans, but defaulting on it could send the world's economy into a tailspin.

101 East asks, is this the end of China Inc?

instead of relying on the domestic market to determine demand, location of housing projects, desirability, convenience, price, etc. stupid tiong officials build ghost cities out of nowhere and suddenly find themselves short of funds after the credit clampdown. that's not capitalism. it's suka suka cum up with shitism. at least if it's unilateral zero-clue authoritarian decision, build the damn ghost cities where the national high speed rail stops or transits. kindergarten kids like me can think better than them.

u mean like how USA tried to create demand where there is none,by creating half a trillion dollars of loans a year to people who have no money and no business owning property,and repackaging those loans into 9 different tranches like as though it made any difference triple aaa tranche of shit is still shit.and a 8 percentage decrease in home prices will result in the whole financial system crashing down?

oh its just a bubble,u have them i have them everyone has them,america had two major ones in 15 years,give people credit and they will use it freely after all its a bubble everybody thinks it will go up forever just like SG economy.........its just capitalism,u know everyone is in a rush to make that money,u cant expect them to stand around and wait for it to come in slowly.

Facts? Those are merely opinions of an anti China pro western produced media outlet.

Speaking of lights at the end of the tunnel one can barely predict the outcome of a simple football match so how can someone predict the future of a country.

Al jazeera possibly sides the west over China anyway what you mentioned about the end of the video was the commentary by that woman on how ppl seeing their lives improve since the 80s throwing money into empty apartments and somehow that statement alone sums up China is that your point?

Most Chinks in the upper echelon are crooks. They are mostly corrupted. I was in Liaoning Fushun in the mid 2000s installing a project at 1 of their State Owned Enterprise (SOE). Imagine they take 2 hours lunch (with enough time for a lunch time nap as well) and knock off work at 4pm every workday. How to be productive? During winter, every house will use coal to keep warm and the pollution was so bad that you can hardly see more than 100m ahead of you clearly during the shortened daylight.

We even had to pay under table money in order to secure the project and always be prepared to forgo the last 20% of the payment with any Chinks project because they will find all ways and means to make troubles for you to recover this payment. Even if you want to go to arbitration, the contract will indicate that it will have to be in a Chinese court, which is already as good as losing the case without even a fight. Fuck to the Chinks.
