The news that more than 100 employees from two agents of the vehicle distribution giant Inchcape in Singapore will be laid off in the coming weeks has triggered frenzy among the staff. If the news is to be believed, around 120 workers, from Toyota agent Borneo Motors and Suzuki agent Champion Motors, will be sacked in one of the largest trimming exercises to hit the local motor industry

Car Accessories are primarily installed by their vendors. Usually, there are spikes in demand to install accessories so that salesmen can quickly to hand over vehicles in some days of the year. You can find temp malaysian workers without work permit going & out of their vehicle centre at pasir panjang during these busier periods.

Engine oil is siphoned from a few workshops. Some car forums had drivers reporting that their engine oil dip stick remains very very dirty after servicing.

Try buying a car from Borneo, there is a chance that the car salesman will call u before delivery to ask u to top up $500-800 for your insurance, otherwise you need to buy your own insurance but you need to reimburse them a few hundred more on car price because you don't buy insurance from them.

Tan Chong is an extended family - Tan Chong HK, Tan Chong Sg, Tan Chong Malaysia. Grab Car is technically controlled by Tan Chong Malaysia so they tie up with Honda which is not distributed by Tan Chong Singapore.

Hi sis, actually a lot of car leasing these days. Eg. Hitachi Leasing offers very good warranty coverage and terms + free servicings (depending on your loan/lease package) which will reduce the need for these corrupted in-house workshops.

In fact we are buying more cars. I heard that with Honda taking a stake in Grab, Grab is going to put 3000-5000 more Vezels on our road in 2017. Now every young working adult can afford to lease (not own) a car in Singapore. COE will not big crash because Singapore is so prosperous.

Glenn priced his Subaru Crossovers/SUVs at Toyota/Honda/Nissan Sedan prices of similar engine size. He don't even want to bring in sedans for Subaru at this moment. His next move is to capitalize on subaru KL assembly plant i future.

For his generation. It is worth mentioning that the most capable ones are the two brothers in Goldbell, the younger brother is already very matured and seasoned in the field and the elder is recruited back to the family business after a respectable stint as a top-notch banker in a HK-based AMDK bank.

It might not be due to poor business but just restructuring, eg. outsourcing to vendors.

This is the best time to retrench (end & beginning of the year). Imagine you need to reimburse 3 to 6 months for retrenching a staff with 6 years of working experience. Then you are just about to give 3-months bonus (13mth + Variable), it makes sense to use the budget for bonus to retrench a staff to support the restructuring exercise.
