Man to be charged with murder of woman found at ferry terminal

SINGAPORE: A 23-year-old Malaysian will be charged on Wednesday (Dec 21) with the murder of a woman found dead at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal last month, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said.
The woman, 54, was said to be a cleaner at the ferry terminal. She was found motionless in a drain near the terminal on Nov 25, and reports said that she had injuries on her neck and stomach.
In a statement on Tuesday, SPF said the suspect was arrested last Sunday in Malaysia with the help of Malaysian police. He was handed over to Singapore authorities on Monday evening.
He will be charged with murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.
“The Singapore Police Force wishes to express our gratitude to the RMP (Royal Malaysian Police) for rendering their utmost support to this case, leading to the arrest of the murder suspect in Malaysia. The SPF will continue to work closely with our foreign law enforcement partners to bring such fugitives home to face justice,” the statement said.
