the USA will only military intervene to defend Japan, it's most important ally, second to none, not Taiwan or the Philippines or any others in the Asia Pacific region. the ROC Taiwan has to depend on itself against any PRC military engagements. the USA is a historical despicable betrayer of allies, can't depend on them to save your ass for sure.

Japan will defend Taiwan without hesitation but I agree that US will not necessary defend Taiwan like the Korean wars. Japan's Navy is still capable of matching China's. When China invades Taiwan, Japan and Taiwan will also take the chance to be nuclear-armed.

China will not be able to defend her interests in South China Sea if they fight in NE Asia. US's pacific fleet will then back the other claimant states such as Vietnam to take over Spartly Islands. Eg. during Korean war, China faced attacks from KMT in Yunnan when they sent part of their fighting strength to N.Korea.

They are pretty advanced & if 3rd world countries like India, Pakistan, N.Korea countries can get them, I'm sure Taiwan can too.

If they can no longer rely on the US nuclear umbrella this may be the only option. I'm sure someone there must have considered going nuclear.

nuclear technology is pretty easy to develop,its getting the source material thats hard.Pakistan only accidentally got the technology when USA supplied them with nuclear reactors and source fuel to power those reactors in return for some agreement.north korea is slowly scrapping together enough radioactive material for a bomb but it takes them years to accumulate one thats sufficient for a few kilotons.of course anytime a country wants to go nuclear its just an excuse for them to develop nuclear weapons,as reactors require alot of fuel and its hard to track even if a tiny percentage of the fuel supplied and the radioactive waste material goes missing or unaccounted for which is what is happening in Japan.

原标题：评论:大陆统一台湾进程已开始 “台独”丧钟敲响

　　圣多美和普林西比政府当地时间20日发表声明称，该国与台湾断绝外交关系，承认中华人民共和国主权。这是自蔡英文上台以来第一个宣布与台湾“断交”的国家，也是“川蔡通话”之后“台湾外交”发生的第一个变故。

　　北京对圣普的行动在第一时间表达了赞赏，强调了一个中国原则的普适性，但没有多说什么，尤其对中国大陆在这起“断交”事件中是否扮演了角色只字未提。

　　但“断交”发生在这个时间决非巧合。很显然，这次“断交”是蔡英文拒不承认“九二共识”，甚至忘乎所以搞出“川蔡通话”、以此冲击一个中国原则受到的惩罚。这一事件也客观上对美国当选总统特朗普就一个中国原则发出错误声音构成了回应。

　　台湾当局用圣普政府要求“天文数字”援助而不成来解释这次“断交”，希望把公众的注意力引向与经济有关的技术层面，淡化台湾最新失去“邦交国”的政治原因，为蔡英文的错误路线脱责。台媒报道说圣普要求的金援高达2.1亿美元，而事实是，台湾的绝大部分“邦交国”都又小又穷，台湾一直靠提供援助买同那些国家的“外交关系”。

　　台湾的22个“邦交国”又缩减为21个，但圣普变卦大概只是个开始。台湾舆论纷纷担心新的“断交潮”又要来了，这种担心是有道理的。

　　上世纪台湾经历了新中国成立、中国恢复在联合国的合法席位、美国同中国建交三大事件之后的“断交潮”，上世纪末到本世纪头8年的李登辉、陈水扁时期，台湾“邦交国”继续减少，只有在马英九执政8年里，由于马当局承认一个中国，两岸搞“外交休兵”，大陆放了台湾一马，台湾的“邦交国”数量得到了维系。

　　蔡英文拒绝承认“九二共识”是在两岸实力差距空前拉大的情况下蛮干的，如今的台湾GDP不到大陆1/20，真正退缩为一个省的规模，已毫无与大陆“拼外交”的能力。民进党当局搞“柔性台独”，必将意味着台湾的“外交自杀”。它想证明台湾是“主权国家”，但世界进一步抛弃台湾，让台湾的“主权”成为一个大笑话。

　　特朗普称呼蔡英文一声“台湾总统”，改变不了全世界共同维系一个中国原则的格局。这个格局如此强大，特朗普也扭不动。其实特朗普显然也没想真的打破一个中国原则，他只是虚晃一枪，想把一个中国原则当成一个筹码，把台湾作为一个棋子，来与大陆开展经济利益的谈判。

　　完全可以预见，如果台湾不改弦更张，还有更多别的“邦交国”离它而去，转向寻求与北京建交。世界在变化，中国大陆的“一带一路”倡议与第三世界国家的发展需求形成良好对接，与中国大陆发展全面关系的吸引力大大超过从台湾得点经济援助的短线利益。只要大陆愿意接纳那些国家，台湾很难继续用小恩小惠留住它们。

　　如果民进党当局继续推进“台独”路线，台湾“外交”的最终结局就是剃光头，“邦交国”降为零。“台独”是把一条绝路假装成阳关大道走，是鸵鸟之安，它是台湾当局强加给台湾社会的羞辱。

　　必须指出，大陆统一台湾的进程事实上已经开始。当大陆很弱时，台湾以实力自重，冒充“国家”去国际社会混。然而大陆实力迅猛增长后，其强大的引力已将台湾牢牢抓住，将其归置到只能绕大陆运行的轨道。对外界来说，大陆和绕它旋转的台湾已是一体。台湾方面早点看清这个事实，并且接受它，就能早一点解脱。

Japan and US will defend Taiwan without hesitation? Do you know how many wars and mess USA are now involved in? Do you know US is manuerving EU-NATO to corner Russia and Iran?

Do you know PRC has revamp its army, navy and airforce so much that Japan is panicking (unlike 10 years ago)?

Do you know Taiwan is sinking under its "democracy" mess whereby the politicians are creating circuses (both DPP and KMT) while stuffing full their wallets and preparing to run-road (everyone have mutiple passports)?

Why do you think the Pinoy, Burmese, Malaysians, Thais now go to China to porlumpa?

　　[环球网综合报道]据香港中评社12月22日报道，针对圣多美和普林西比与台湾“断交”一事，陈水扁儿子陈致中21日在其脸书发文表示，这是大陆对“川蔡热线”的“反制”。他提醒蔡英文小心台湾与蔡明年1月将访问的尼加拉瓜的关系。

　　他表示，尼加拉瓜总统奥尔特加自2007年任总统迄今，从未访问台湾，这在惯例上亦属罕见，他要蔡英文记取苏贞昌2006年访乍得时之行前的“断交”经验。

　　他说，2006年8月6日，苏贞昌本将代表陈水扁启程前往非洲，参加乍得总统德比连任的就职典礼。但是事前情报显示，就在当天，乍得将与大陆建交并和台湾“断交”。故台涉外部门在苏贞昌启程的前22小时，也就是8月5日，提早宣布与乍得“断交”。

　　蔡英文预计明年1月10日将率团参加中美洲国家尼加拉瓜总统奥尔特加的连任就职大典，并“顺访”其他三个国家。报道分析称，蔡英文一次扫四国并高度配合四国安排的行程，这明显带有护盘的意味。

　　据台湾“中时电子报”12月19日报道，解放军前南京军区副司令王洪光17日在2016年的环球时报-环球网年会上发言时表示，两岸将在2020年前爆发冲突，而解放军夺取台湾，是“以小时计（算）”。对此，台湾陆委会主委张小月今天（19日）上午对此作出回应。她声称，中国大陆过去对台湾的作法，一贯是“胡萝卜加棍棒”，但“任何恐吓对两岸关系没有正面帮助，我们的立场还是希望维持确保两岸和平稳定发展。”

　　台湾“立法院”内政委员会19日早上召开全体会议，继续审查2017年度总预算案关于陆委会主管收支部分等内容，会议邀请台湾陆委会主委张小月、海基会副董事长兼秘书长张天钦、“台港经济文化合作策进会”董事长路平等人出席。

　　有媒体询问大陆解放军前南京军区副司令王洪光说，2020就会发生台海危机，拿下台湾只要几个小时，此言论是否不友善？张小月今天上午受访时表示，“大陆过去对我们的做法，一边是胡萝卜一边是棍棒，任何恐吓对两岸关系没有正面帮助，我们立场还是希望维持确保两岸和平稳定发展。”

　　关于美国总统奥巴马此前谈论台湾问题，张小月则声称，“中华民国”是主权国家，与美国的关系，是根据“与台湾关系法”与“六项保证”，对台湾来说，重视发展对外关系，也重视“台美关系”。

　　针对奥巴马说台湾不会独立，张小月则表示，台湾未来要由2300万台湾人民决定，要根据“普遍民意跟民主原则”。

　　至于“台美关系”未来是否会改变？张小月就说，可能要等到特朗普正式上任后，这个图像才会比较清楚。

　　王洪光中将17日在2016年环球时报-环球网年会的第四部分“‘台独’和‘港独’还能猖狂多久？”的议题讨论环节中称，“特朗普还未当选时两岸冲突已不断积累，危机在不断加深，已经到了一个临界的爆发点。特朗普上台以后，其最近的言行等于给这个即将爆发的临界点点了一根火柴”。

　　王洪光还表示，“台独”现在是岛内的主流民意，而且岛内越来越独，不可回头。10年前55%的台湾人不承认自己是中国人，10年之后，2016年有75%的人不承认自己是中国人。再过一代，全岛没有谁再承认自己是中国人。而蔡英文是理性“台独”，不是像陈水扁这样的投机分子。蔡英文就是举着‘台湾国’要‘建国’的理念，她说要‘维持现状’，却主动给特朗普打一个电话，用自己的实际行动突破了维持现状最基本的红线。另外，她任命了几个“台独”大法官，这几个大法官可以通过司法很低调的把台湾变成一个‘独立国’。所以对蔡英文我们说要给她一个没有答完的答卷，纯属自己一相情愿。这个是对蔡英文看法的极大误判，当下最主要的是不要让蔡英文再答什么没有答完的答卷，这个答卷她已经交卷了，就是持续的“台独”。(环球网报道 记者 徐亦超)

　　近期，我辽宁号航母编队穿越宫古海峡，沿西太平洋西缘南下，从巴士海峡进入南海训练，训练结束后从台湾海峡北返，完成一个训练周期。想不到台湾当局，以及岛内绿营媒体和群体大惊失色、仓皇失措。台湾当局明知我航母属于正常训练，不会对台岛产生具体的威胁，却装出应对有方的模样，又是即时通报动态，又是派出军舰伴航、军机警戒，又是“防长”坐镇、“总长”指挥，表示“一切尽在掌握中”。搞得煞有介事，有点像唐吉诃德举着破矛对风车发起进攻，故作姿态、提气壮胆。更有“不便透漏姓名的现役将领”，叫嚣对我航母发起导弹攻击，“一举歼灭敌人”。

　　台海当局这些举动完全是自作多情，抬举自己，真是自恋得可以。我航母编队和不久前轰6K轰炸机两次绕飞台湾，是用来对付台湾的吗？台湾也太把自己当根葱了。可以明确地告诉岛内，打台湾用不着牛刀，杀鸡用菜刀就够了。

　　老实说，航母经过台湾海峡是台湾岛最安全的时段。台湾海峡最窄处（我平潭岛至台湾新竹）只有110千米，再考虑所谓“中线”，庞大的航母编队只有二三十千米的宽度可通行，就好像大象进了瓷器店，稍不小心就可能碰到过往繁忙的商船、渔船。这也是我航母编队比正常速度更慢通过海峡的原因。以后我航母再经过台湾周边，不要这么敏感，一不小心“反误了卿卿性命”。如果胆敢对我经过台湾海峡的舰机发起攻击（哪怕是“误击”），那么出动舰机的港口和机场将首先遭到毁灭性的报复。我判断，海军左营基地，空军清泉岗、新竹、乐山机场，包括乐山铺路爪远程雷达将被从地图上抹去，甚至东引岛被我夺占。前几个月从左营港向我方向打出的“雄三”，我们并没有忘记。

　　我可以告诉岛内一个“秘密”，我航母编队和轰6K最终是要占据台湾岛东边300-500千米南北一线的阵位，对日本和从第二岛链开来的美航母战斗群形成威慑。在一两年内，我们就能看到在这一片海域，我空海军和战略火箭军的联合训练。我们都知道，一片山林只有一只老虎活动，在它的活动和捕食范围内，具有对其它动物至高无上的权威，即“占山为王”。先占为主动，后来的老虎想取而代之，必有一番厮杀。我辽宁舰和未来新建的航母，在我即将武力收复台湾时，先占此地，形成对内对外正面，将台海战场包围于内，将西太平洋阻隔于外，台湾当局想当然的“坚守待援”是没有希望了。辽宁舰为什么出了宫古海峡就以近30海里的时速高速南下，正是验证部署到位的时间。以此时速，航母战斗群24小时内可部署到位，在我判断100小时内武力收复台湾的总时间里，正好是“火力准备”的时段。火力打击结束（即航母部署到位），我登陆兵正好上岛。

　　我航母战斗群在台湾以东300-500千米活动南北一线的，是1996年台海危机时美军两个航母战斗群活动的海域，我先敌抢占，在战役战术层面上，一是用舰载机（航程较近）掩护我陆基轰炸航空兵（航程较远）前出至台岛以东1000千米以远，威慑和打击驰援台湾的美军舰队；二是掩护我潜艇前出设伏和巡弋，用潜舰导弹攻击美军舰队，并对付敌潜艇，从水下保护我航母战斗群安全；三是掩护我登陆台湾的东部作战集团背海方向的安全，使我登陆兵在我岸基战术航空兵支援下放心大胆地展开攻击行动；四是与我陆基航空兵配合，警戒冲绳方向，保证宫古海峡的畅通。如果日本自卫队轻举妄动，我东风15系列地地导弹和陆基轰6轰炸机携带的空地导弹，是给他们免费的午餐。

　　我前出台湾以东的航母战斗群的安全是有保障的。它们将在我东风21D、东风26反舰导弹的火力圈内行动，轰6K和攻击核潜艇携带的射程800-1500千米的反舰（巡航）导弹也不是吃素的。在这样强大的威慑力和半径约1000千米的威慑范围内，谁敢开第一枪，都要认真思量一番。可是他们下决心的时间，加上从远处调动兵力和突破我堵截的时间，只有几十小时。台湾还有戏吗？
