Wow, the saga gets worse and worse. Now Chief of Army General Melvyn Ong has confirmed there were small arms on the shipment that was seized, but there was no ammo. Small arms meaning rifles, pistols/handguns and all the way to GPMG. No wonder the HKGians and the Chinese were so keen to seize it. U can't bring guns into HKG!!

Shipping companies must meet requirements such as protection against theft and tampering, and file all necessary paperwork for relevant ports of call.
For ammunition or sensitive equipment, the SAF will either require no transit stops or, if stops are necessary, that there be no calls at United Nations-embargoed ports or in identified threat areas such as the Gulf of Aden. It will also track the shipment and specify the route to take, he added.
