they have the capability for rapid reclaiming, such as islands in South China Seas and even islands off Malacca for the expanded port. You can build anything low-rise immediately just like our Garden-by-the-Bay or Marina Bay Golf Course building.
However, building high-rise immediately on these new lands are risky, and it is a massive jobsite now. Such lands can liquefy due to slight earth movement in the initial years because landfill needs time to settle. The buildings on top can have structural and foundation cracks.

The chinese don't care if any one lives there or not. That is not the objective of their purchase. All over the world, they are buying properties and leaving them empty. Their main purposes is to get their corruptly obtained and stolen money the hell out of china so no one can catch them with it. When the net is closing, they will hope on a flight to malaysia. even if they lose 20-30% on the property transaction, they would have succeeded in getting the money out of China.
Land is so cheap there, that was what attracted the developers in the first place. Why the hell would they spend so much money to reclaim land?

Who cares? Its their money to lose. If there is a way to make money out of this situation, I am waiting for it. My ideal scenario is that there are so many unsold units that the Malaysian partners, either the Johore or National sovereign wealth fund will pressure the govt to lower the $1 million ringgitt foreign buyer requirement and people like me can go in and pick up some units cheap cheap.

Empty properties usually lead to property crash. You end up saving pennies on the dollar. It's still a lot of money lost. And I have seen enough friends losing nearly everything in mudland property deals when m&d laws change or due to legal dispute being a gullible buyer and conniving property developer.

im disappointed with the status of iskandar project,johor has 30 times the land mass of Singapore,it could be easily developed into a shoppers paradise by reits,with the joint assistance of walmart and genting,we can build a couple of supercenters and casinos and resorts.with the extremely cheap land and weak currency,Singapore would be dead in no time.
