Serious "That is the problem with the Malays. They don’t have honesty" : Dr Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR — Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad yesterday once again lashed out at the Malay community in his country, accusing them of lacking good values and being lazy.

Dr Mahathir said the country’s ethnic majority was not hardworking enough and therefore uncompetitive, causing them to trail behind the other races economically.

This also resulted in the Malays being driven out from the main cities to the rural interior.

“Like Alor Setar (the capital of Kedah) and now there are no more Malays there when it was them that raised the city. This is because the Malays are poor and they have no money so they sell their land. So what happens is now they stay outside the city,” said the former leader at a book launch.

Dr Mahathir, who served as prime minister for 22 years and is regarded as the country’s “Father of Modernisation”, admitted that he may have failed to transform the country’s ethnic majority so that they become more hardworking.

Despite all the government had done to help them, Dr Mahathir said the Malays still expected things to come easily and refused to adopt working cultures of more successful races, such as those in Japan.

Japan was an integral part of the Mahathir administration’s Look East Policy. The policy was to push Malaysia to follow the East Asians in becoming diligent, hardworking and loyal.

“I have tried for 22 years to help the Malays. Maybe I have failed, although some may say that I did achieve some success,” said Dr Mahathir.

“Values dictate if one race should succeed or not ... Like the Japanese, they are ashamed if they fail. That is why they are afraid to fail ... But the Malays, they lack shame.”

Dr Mahathir said the Malays are also bankrupt of honesty. He claimed of first-hand experience in the matter when his bakery company, The Loaf, tried in the past to sack several managers for stealing money from the restaurants.

He said the establishment of his bakery was to help the Malays by giving them job opportunities but instead they stole his money.

“That is the problem with the Malays. They don’t have honesty,” he added.

Why would malays open whorehouses, gambling dens and sell liquor to earn a living?
Besides dr m himself was a serial liar. But he got away with by cheating.

Mahathir forgotten that the Japanese has about 2000 years of history, with the first 1000 year earnestly learning culture, politics and technology from the Chinese, then another 800 years politicking against each other (Shogun-era), finally learning earnestly from Angmo (repeat of what they did with Chinese) for about 100 years.

Each of these races, Jap, PRC and Angmo all went through tough stages of evolution while the bumi was still relaxing in their kampung under the cover of coconut trees, warm climate and not much competition. The bumi history just before colonial times can only be equated to the city-state era in Shang/Chou Dynasty in China, very much a tiny urban elite, local chieftains type of civilisation, with the economy based mainly around trading of easy to get commodities (local produce) to China and India, and enforcing taxes at choke points on trading ships.

maybe we can teach them ala PRC style.with gigantic signboards outside the gates depicting the chinese characters Honesty 诚 and Integrity 廉 with the english equivalent underneath whenever the workers match pass the factory gates in the morning in single file.

Its is refreshing to hear a former leader criticize his own race. will we ever get such honesty from Gay Loong? will we ever hear gay Loong say that sinkie chinese are gullible and stupid and always getting conned like how his daddy got conned in suzhou? will we ever hear Gay loong say that sinkie chinese are like lemmings and blindly follow what his party tells them? I fact, I applaud mahathir for his outright frankness. If the shoe had been on the other foot and Old fart was in in charge of a country with 76% Malays and Mahathir was in charge of a country with 76% chinese, it can be safely said that Old Fart would have made as much headway as mahathir did in motivating the malays.

This is genetic. m&ds are genetically lazy. Nothing you do can change that fact and they also have a lower average iq compared to Chinese so obviously they are going to fail

I find Dr M's opinions hard to believe given that the m&ds I met, both sinkie and jiuhu, have boasted often about the perfection of their religion and religious values, as compared to the false or corrupted values of the non-Muslims.

Notice something very interesting about this article in that it mentions Japs when mudland has a significant Chinese population who live in mudland and speak their m&d language and hey unsurprisingly have the same work ethic as the japs. Despite living in mudland in close proximity with m&ds and obviously adopting a similar culture Chinese have the same work ethic as the japs and are much more successful than the m&ds. How many Chinese tycoons have you read about from mudland whose recent ancestors like their grandfathers,fathers or even themselves arrived in mudland with just the shirt on their backs and became millionaires or billionaires. The worst fucking thing about this article is the madhatter totally left out the Chinese choosing instead to try to learn from japs. :rolleyes:

Of course forgetting to mention how they discriminate Chinese to get a headstart and then fail. To describe this metaphorically it's like getting a headstart in a race instead of starting at the same starting line m&ds are allowed to start in front yet end up losing the race.

This proves that it's really about genetics and to a lesser extent culture. These m&ds are genetically inclined to be lazy,violent and blame others for their failures also due to their lower IQ.
