Vladimir Putin’s ‘Satan’ nukes would ‘WIPE OUT’ the East Coast on the dawn of World War 3

RUSSIA’S nuclear arsenal could completely decimate the eastern seaboard of the US in one fell swoop when World War 3 breaks out.

Vladimir Putin’s superpower sits on the largest nuke stockpile in the world and its most powerful missile is the SS-18 – better known as the Satan.

Russia is believed to have 55 of the weapons in service, but experts have warned as little as five could make ash out of the East Coast of the US.

These weapons are said to make the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War 2 look like “popguns”.

More than four million people would die if a Satan carrying its maximum payload was launched at central New York.

“Five or six of these 'Satans', and the East Coast of the United States disappears”

Dr Paul Craig Roberts
Dr Paul Craig Roberts, former assistant secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy, made the stark prediction of an apocalyptic nuclear strike launched on the US by Russia.

One of Putin’s Satan missiles would “wipe out three quarters of New York state for thousands of years”, he warned.

Satan missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads with payloads of up to 20,000 kilotons – more than one thousand times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Nagasaki.

At maximum payload a direct hit on New York would kill 4.5 million people, injure 3.6 million, and send radioactive fallout stretching more than 600 miles.

The weapon can also be armed with 10 smaller nukes at 550 kilotons each which can spread across a huge area and are nearly impossible to intercept.

Dr Roberts wrote for the Centre for Research on Globalization: “The atomic bombs that Washington dropped on these helpless civilian centers while the Japanese government was trying to surrender, were mere popguns compared to today’s thermo-nuclear weapons.

“One Russian SS-18 wipes out three-quarters of New York state for thousands of years.

“Five or six of these ‘Satans’ as they are known by the US military, and the East Coast of the United States disappears.”

The economist previously warned Russia could “easily” annihilate NATO and trigger the total collapse of the Western alliance.

Russia’s nuclear targets across the East Coast would include major population centres such as New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Boston, Jacksonville and Washington DC – based on FEMA predictions from the Cold War.

World War 3 fears are looming as politicians warn a “global war” could erupt between the US and Russia over the conflict in Syria.

NUCLEAR WAR: Putin is deploying Cold War-esque bomber patrols near the US border
RUSSIA's biggest and baddest nuclear bombers are being dispatched on Cold War-esque patrols on the edge of US airspace amid the threat of World War 3.

Vladimir Putin has signed off a new division of monstrous nuclear capable bombers to patrol the region.

Relations between the two superpowers are poor with the Kremlin warning Russians to "prepare for war".

Long-range bombers dubbed "Blackjacks" and "Bears" will undertake regular patrols which were common during the Cold War.

And at the Russian border with Europe at Finland, planes are already penetrating foreign airspace.

“The formation of the division is almost complete now”

The TU-95Ms and TU-22M3s strategic bombers will undertake flights over the Pacific Ocean extending as far as Hawaii and US military bases in Guam.

A new Iron Curtain is falling between the US and Russia as the two nations cut off communication over brewing tensions in Syria.

With the US, China, North Korea and Russia all wielding immense military power in the Pacific the region has been dubbed the Apocalypse Cauldron which could be ground zero for World War 3.

A spokesman for the Defense Ministry revealed the plans to Russian newspaper Izvestia.

He said: "The formation of the division is almost complete now. It consists of several squadrons of long-distance bombers deployed in the Eastern and Central military districts."

Russia have been moving their firepower to the edges of the territory in recent months,.

Thousands of troops and tanks have been sent towards the Baltic and nuclear ICBMs deployed to their Eastern-most border.

Putin expressed fears earlier this year the world could be descending towards a new Cold War.

Military historian Dmitry Boltenkov told the paper: "Back in the Soviet days our long-range bombers in the Far East had as their primary targets US military bases in Japan, on Guam Island, which then served as the main base of US strategic bombers in the Pacific, and also the US naval bases in Hawaii."

He added the missile carrying planes were used to keep an eye on "enemy activity" and the patrols have not been deployed since the early 2000s.

Russian bombers have regularly been intercepted buzzing European nations including Britain.

Confrontations between NATO powers and the Kremlin have left the world seconds from armageddon as tense moments see nuclear weapons primed for combat – including during RAF intercepts of flypasts during the UK.

The US recently moved their nuclear-capable stealth bombers into their bases in Guam to meet the threats from China, Russia and North Korea.

Ex-general says NATO-Russia nuclear war ‘possible within a year’

NATO’s former deputy military chief in Europe says his book, a fictional story which describes a nuclear war with Russia over the Baltic nations taking place in 2017, is based on an “entirely plausible” scenario.
General Sir Richard Shirreff, from Britain, served at the second-highest NATO military office in Europe between 2011 and 2014. He says his experience acquired in the alliance of war-gaming future conflicts helped him model the narrative for the book.

According to his scenario, starting next year Russia would first occupy Ukraine to secure a land route to Crimea and then invade the three Baltic nations, all of which are members of NATO. The move, Shirreff argued, would be driven by the perception of NATO’s weakness and Russia’s opposition to what it sees as the alliance’s attempts to encircle it.

“We need to judge President [Vladimir] Putin by his deeds not his words,” the retired general told BBC Radio 4’s Today program. “He has invaded Georgia, he has invaded the Crimea, he has invaded Ukraine. He has used force and got away with it.”

The supposed invasion of Georgia in 2008 was Russia’s response to a Georgian attack on its breakaway region of South Ossetia, which started with the killings of Russian peacekeepers stationed there to prevent such hostilities. Russia responded by defeating the NATO-trained Georgian Army and withdrew. Moscow later recognized South Ossetia as a sovereign state, formalizing its de facto independence from Georgia that had been in place since the 1990s.

The supposed invasion of Ukraine in 2014 was Russia’s use of its troops, which were legally deployed in Crimea under a treaty with Ukraine, to prevent hostilities after an armed coup in Kiev. The Crimean people, who overwhelmingly opposed the new Ukrainian government and its nationalistic leanings, voted in a referendum to part ways with Ukraine and rejoin Russia.

If Russia used military force against any NATO members, the entire alliance would be obliged to declare war on Russia. The US is the most powerful member of NATO and has the world’s biggest military force. According to Shirreff, Russia would use its nuclear arsenal to counter NATO’s response.

“Be under no illusion whatsoever – Russian use of nuclear weapons is hardwired into Moscow’s military strategy,” he said, omitting the fact that NATO’s nuclear nations – the US, Britain and France – have always kept a pre-emptive nuclear strike as a possible option. Russia dropped its pledge not to use nuclear weapons first in 1993.

A scenario of conflict between Russia and NATO members over one of the Baltic states was earlier explored by the BBC in a film, which focused on decision-making at a British advisory body responding to the crisis. In the film, the stand-off escalated into a full-scale nuclear conflict and the advisers contemplating an option to destroy Russia’s biggest cities with Trident missiles.
