SINGAPORE — Some had their contracts terminated without clear explanation — just before their firms moved overseas. Others were let go because they did not meet their performance targets. Or so they were told.

But investigations later show that they are actually disquieting examples of “disguised retrenchments”, a trend the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is concerned about, such that its assistant secretary-general Patrick Tay raised the matter in Parliament last month.

He had called on the Government to pay more attention to the issue for a better reflection of layoff numbers.

These frigging things has been going on for a while. Raising in parliament means what?
TCSS and that's it?
What are they going to do about it is the question here.
What tripartite when it's toothless and not able to act against the companies or its directors or its owners......

That's the way to go man. More retrenchments for Sinkies. They truly deserve it. Complain on more FTs some more lah. These generation Y Sinkies just simply want easy money but not wanting to work hard nor to put in the effort. They can't even take the slightest hardship and will forever complain. I've already witnessed so many of such types. Those millennials aren't any much better either. If these 2 generations of Sinkies still don't wake up to reality, the future is doomed and definitely we'll need more imports (of FTs).

KNN, during my primary/secondary school days, I had to cycle and walk (if raining). Nowadays, many such students are chauffeured by VellFire, Audi, BMW limousines and with Ahmad thrown in some more. So, how to expect them to be honed for the hardship in this real world? They only know about being materialistic and lusting for the latest gadgets, iPhones, iPads, Tablets, etc. My extremely good life primary school nephew and his younger brother spend about S$1,000 every month for their online games subscriptions and purchases. The father just let him use his credit card like no tomorrow. He even has his own juvenile golf lessons. A birthday celebration easily costs over S$5k, with all his elites classmates and friends being invited to the celebration as well.

So in conclusion, where got poor Sinkies???

That is the result of decades-long shepherd protecting the woves more than their sheeps. If Singapore has a strong labour union, our workers weren't be easily bullied.
