Duterte reveals being denied a US visa in the past

BEIJING - President Rodrigo Duterte said he was once denied a United States visa when he planned to visit a girlfriend in college.

Speaking to the Filipino community in China’s capital on Wednesday, Duterte complained that Americans can enter the Philippines visa-free when Filipinos have a hard time securing a travel document to visit the US.

“America? Miski ako hindi ako makapunta doon, hindi ako bigyan ng visa ng mga…” he said.

He narrated that he was asked what would happen if he decided to marry and stay in the US.

“Sabi ko, ‘Mr. Consul, even if you offer me free visas for a lifetime and even if you offer me 10,000 dollars, I’d still return to my country and be a Filipino,’” Duterte recalled and the crowd broke into cheers.

“The problem is, you go to America? You’ll not be issued a visa,” he stressed his point.

He shared that a local government official was also denied a visa although he was invited to an event by the US government itself.

“The poor man had to travel. He was in poor health. Pagdating dito [US Embassy], he was denied. Pero sila anytime. They enter the Philippines visa-free. Well, there will always be a time for reckoning. Bakit hindi natin tablahin?” Duterte said and gave a faint smile.

Duterte had been releasing tirades against US, after American officials expressed concern over the spate of drug-related deaths since the new administration came in.

US President Barack Obama previously advised Duterte to fight crime the right way, after the former Davao City mayor cursed right before flying to Vientiane, Laos for the ASEAN Summit. A bilateral meeting between the two leaders was canceled after Duterte blurted out expletives. — BAP/KG, GMA News

nah...it won't happen, it's a free country. it does good for the city. dick side with china whereas pinoys side with yanks. it will do good for the cty. unless he execute pinoys by firing squad for siding with yanks, then, it's a different story.

The yanks should just reduce the number of pinoy OFWs going to USA..and kick the existing ones out.. Than see wat happens to this dickturte

I doubt China can absorb any OFWs... OFWs r pinoy land largest export.

His grandfather was from Xiamen. So, the rest is history. He's not even ashamed to want to ask the Chinks to build a railway line for free. Even if the Chinks will agree, it will also come with conditions attached. This President is selling away The Philippines to the Chinks. Those who had voted for him will have to eventually repent.

The Pinoy's chose their President well.

After years of inaction but a relatively scandal free Aquino administration, at least they have the courage now to vote someone with a ass kicking record to finally rid the country of corrupted, self-entitled, fat cats.

Yes, it may take years, and Duterte's loose lips may be a hindrance to himself on the global stage, but he is what the Pinoy's need, someone to show how much a leader would go to fight to the bitter end for the good of his country.

He is like LKY with a potty mouth.

He is a patriot, but he better be careful of the CIA, who have fed and groomed many corrupt Pinoy officials in the past. They are the CIA's bitches, but Duterte is not, so they might just create an "incident" that may cause him personal harm and install a "bastard, but at least he's OUR bastard" and forever ensalve the nation as USA's shithole and sex shop.

This is a man who has led by example, a leader in true form, not some cock-sucking, time wasting, under table bureaucrat.

I admire his courage and tenacity.

God bless the Philippines for Duterte, may she become strong again.
