SINGAPORE - Two former employees of Micro 2000 Technology, an IT business solutions company, were on Friday (Oct 14) charged with corruption involving more than $250,000.

Ng Jun Siang, 25, who led a team of customer service officers, is accused of taking $238,530 in bribes from a person named Yeo Jingyuan.

The kickbacks were allegedly received by Ng over 26 days between May and November 2012.

Tony Tan Kim Chong, 36, who also led a team of customer service officer, is meanwhile accused of taking $18,750 in bribes from Yeo.

The kickbacks were allegedly received by Tan over 22 days between June and November 2012.

In return for the cash they took, both Ng and Tan purportedly did not report their teams' non-compliance with protocol, which related to the exchange of customers' iPhones for replacement handsets, to Micro 2000's senior management.

Both Ng and Tan indicated to the court that they intend to plead guilty to their 26 and 22 graft charges respectively.

Their cases will be mentioned again on Nov 11.

On Aug 30, six other former Micro 2000 employees were charged with corruption.

The men are: Toh Ean Seng, who was a store assistant; and Tan Jingren, Mervin Pan Junwen, Jackson Soh Geok Hong, Lim Shao Lun and Tan Jianwei (Chen Jianwei), who were all customer service officers.

The six were sentenced on Sept 15 to fines of up to $12,000.

If found guilty, Tan and Ng each face a fine of up to $100,000, up to five years' jail, or both, for each of their charges.
