And South Korea Kim Tae-Hun is taking part in the Rio Olympics! The TKD standard of the Koreans has gone down the drain for the past decade.

See the difference? This was the kind of TKD stuff we were exposed to during our schooldays.

Scoring most important. Unneeded aggression will only get you injured and disqualified.

What's stopping you from learning good ol' fashion boxing? It's much more useful in a fight and for keeping fit than tkd. An average boxer is fitter and has more fighting experience than most asiatic kungfu or tkd "grandmasters".

Even in the old days of tougher tkd training, tkd is still not useful in a fight unless you are fighting someone unfit and never trained before. An average fighter would have simply closed the gap and pounded the hell out of the tkd fighter, giving him no chance to unleash his fanciful kicks. The tkd fighter would keep retreating in order to create distance so that he can use his kicks that he trained so hard for.

While good kicking has won some matches in mma, most fighters still stick with boxing and good groundwork grappling. Learning boxing, muay thai or mma instead.

How come the South Koreans only have 1 contestant each for the Men and Women's category qualify for the round of 16? Either they have become so fark up now that they can't even make it to the final 16, or they're boycotting the sport by not sending contestants to participate. Once upon a time, they swept all the golds for this sport.
