Very few people including educated m&ds have heard of baju teluk belangah...

Teluk Belanga
In the state of Johor, both the design and the wearing of Baju Melayu is somewhat different from that of other areas. Here, the kain samping or kain sarung is worn below the baju rather than above it. The baju itself does not have the cekak musang collar or any placket. Instead, the opening is hemmed with stiff stitching called tulang belut (literally eel's spine) and ends with a small loop at the top of one side to fit a singular kancing (similar to the collars of Baju Kurung worn by women). This style is known as the Teluk Belanga style and was believed to be designed by Sultan Abu Bakar's aides to commemorate the move of Johor's administrative capital from Teluk Belanga in Singapore to Tanjung Puteri in 1866 (known as Johor Bahru from 1866)

8 Indonesians detained at Woodlands Checkpoint over Islamic State images

KUALA LUMPUR: Eight Indonesians were detained by Singapore customs authorities at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Tuesday (Jan 10) for possessing Islamic State images, media reports said.

The group was arrested while trying to enter Singapore at about 1.30am on Tuesday after the authorities found several of the images on one of their mobile phones, Malaysia’s Bernama news agency reported, citing an unidentified source.

The eight were then handed over to Malaysian police for further investigations, the report said. They were detained from 2.30am to 9am for questioning, and subsequently deported to Batam by ferry.

They have since been questioned by the Indonesian police’s special counterterrorism unit, Densus 88, the Jakarta Post reported.

Riau Islands Police Chief Inspector General Sambudi Gusdian was quoted as saying that the images found were of the Islamic State flag, an Islamic State “activity” and a homemade shoe bomb.

The eight ranged in age from 16 to 37 years, with most of them in their 20s, the Jakarta Post report said. The oldest, identified as Ridce Elfi Hendra, was said to be the leader of the group. The Islamic State images were found on his phone, the report said.

The reports said the group arrived in Kuala Lumpur by plane on Jan 3 from Padang in West Sumatra. They were in Malaysia to preach and for Ridce to seek medical treatment.

On Jan 7, the group travelled overland to Phatani in Thailand to learn about the education system at the Islamic Education Board in the district. They then returned to Malaysia and tried to enter Singapore on Monday, Bernama said.

Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement on Thursday evening that Singapore authorities informed their Malaysian counterparts before deporting the eight men. "One of them was found in possession of images of security concern, including that of a shoe bomb as well as fighters from the terrorist group that calls itself the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria," an MHA spokesperson said.

The Jakarta Post said Malaysian authorities reached a “preliminary conclusion” after an investigation that the eight were not Islamic State followers, but "subscribed to the mainstream teachings of Islam that rejected Islamic State ideology".

The images came from a WhatsApp group Ridce had once joined, the report said. “(He) said he had left the group but did not know that the pictures had not yet been deleted,” Gen Sambudi said.

Densus 88 has a week to interrogate the group, the report said.

Myanmar warns its workers in Malaysia after five hacked to death

police-prepare-for-a-protest-organised-by-pro-democracy-group.jpg

YANGON/KUALA LUMPUR: Myanmar said on Monday it had sent out safety instructions to its workers in Malaysia after attackers hacked five of them to death with swords, weeks after it barred workers from going there, partly because of security fears.

Tension between the Southeast Asian neighbours has risen in recent months over the fate of Myanmar's stateless Rohingya Muslim minority, with Malaysia accusing Myanmar of genocide over its treatment of them.

Myanmar rejects reports of abuses by its security forces against the Rohingyas in the course of a crackdown launched after attackers killed nine Myanmar policemen in border posts near the Bangladesh border on Oct. 9.

On Thursday, four masked men wielding swords attacked Myanmar workers after they had left a factory in the Serdang district on the outskirts of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. Five were killed and two wounded.

Malaysian police said seven Myanmar men had been detained shortly after the attack and they did not see any "religious motivations" behind it. They gave no more details.

Mostly Buddhist Myanmar stopped its workers going to Malaysia in December, after Najib Razak, prime minister of the predominantly Muslim country, described Myanmar's treatment of the Rohingya as "genocide" and called for foreign intervention.

Labour-short Malaysia hosts about 147,000 Myanmar workers, according to Myanmar data.

The spokesman for the Myanmar president's office, Zaw Htay, said safety instructions had been issued to Myanmar workers in Malaysia and illegal Myanmar workers there were urged to contact the embassy, state media quoted him as saying.

Myanmar was working with Malaysian authorities to investigate the attack and the ban on workers going to Malaysia would remain in force, he said.

Nyunt Win, deputy director general at Myanmar's Labour, Immigration and Population Ministry, said security worries had been one reason for the ban on workers going to Malaysia.

"There are several reasons for the ban on Myanmar migrant workers going to Malaysia, including security concerns and the fact that they are trying to stir up political troubles against Myanmar," Nyunt Win said. He did not elaborate.

Last week, Malaysia's top counter-terrorism official told Reuters in an interview that Myanmar faced a growing danger of attacks by foreign supporters of Islamic State recruited from Southeast Asian networks in support of the Rohingyas.

Malaysian authorities detained a suspected IS follower planning to go to Myanmar to carry out attacks, the head of the Malaysian police counter-terrorism division, Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, said, adding that Myanmar targets outside Myanmar were also at risk.

Son of Moro leader nabbed in Malaysia over deadly Davao City blast

ETALING JAYA: The son of a Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader is currently being detained in Malaysia in connection with the Davao City bombing in Sept 2016.

According to a report from VERA Files, Datu Mohammad Abduljabbar Sema, 26, was arrested on Nov 24, 2016 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport upon his arrival from Bangkok.

Datu Mohammad is the son of Muslimin Sema, chairman of the largest group in the MNLF, and Bai Sandra Sema, congresswoman of the first district of Maguindanao.

VERA Files, founded in March 2008 is published by Filipino journalists taking a deeper look into current Philippine issues.

Datu Mohammad, an Islamic scholar had been travelling to and from Bangkok, while exiting to Cambodia. However, when his 30-day visa free entry was about to expire, he travelled to Malaysia, with the intention of returning to Thailand after three days.

He was then arrested upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, where he was placed under Malaysian custody in an undisclosed location.

Muslimin Sema was a former Cotabato City mayor and is considered to be a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission. His mother belongs to the influential Sinsuat clan of Maguindanao.

VERA Files said Datu Mohammad's mother is currently seeking for the release of her son through a pardon from Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte while his father has sought the assistance of Peace Process presidential adviser Jesus Dureza.

The Philippines government last month sent law enforcement representatives to Malaysia to record his statement.

Meanwhile, Philippines defense secretary Lorenzana said the Philippines will request custody of Datu Mohammad.

"Of course, of course, we will request so that we can bring him back to the country," Lorenzana said.

VERA Files also said the Philippines police sources have declined to give specifics as to Datu Mohammad's role in the Davao City bombing.

Over 12 people were involved in the terror attack on the Davao City night market which claimed the lives of 15 people and wounded 69 others.

Seven suspects have already been captured in the Philippines, not including Datu Mohammad.

Three suspects have been arrested on Oct 4 and four others on Oct 29 at the Southern Philippine Development Authority Compound in Cotabato City.

They are said to be members of the Maute Group, which has links to the Islamic State.

His arrest is said to have an affect on the peace process as he is the son of an MNLF leader who will soon be appointed as a Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) member.
The BTC will resume formal work revising the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law that will create the new Bangsamoro region to replace the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao.

The growing Arabisation phenomenon could be seemed as the ara-m&ds trying to lift themselves out of their inferior complex when they are losing out to other races in academic and economic achievements. So the more they ape the arabs, the greater they will feel. The trend is to wear black tudung, maybe they are imagining sinkieland and mudland are plagued by desert storms.

Instead of spending time and effort disparaging the "m&ds", it's best you devote your time and effort addressing the inferiority complexes and problems in the Singaporean-Indian male community. Whilst like you, they profess "Indian Pride", "Black Power", etc, they betray their shame to be Indians by seeking out the "munjens" they claim to detest, as life partners. The shameful psyche of the successful male Indian Singaporeans is that they have arrived in Singapore society once they have a "munjen" trophy girl lock in their arms. Getting a Chinese girl as a trophy life partner becomes their personal KPI.

This has enormous implications for your community. Indian girls are left on the shelf, unable to reproduce themselves. Indian parents can only hope to matchmake them with poor and "less desirable" Indians from India. The nett result is an ongoing underclass of Indian-Singaporeans, caught in a cycle of poverty, able to work only in undesirable and "low class" jobs, and predisposed to crime. This then perpetuates the stereotype of the Indians as untrustworthy, dirty, alcoholics, wife-beaters, etc.

Instead of successful Indian males helping to uplift their own Indian community, they leave it at the first opportunity. They readily dump Hinduism for Christianity as the churches offer more opportunities for them to seek out Chinese girls. By striving to have Chinese girls as partners or trophy wives, they become "role models" and set standards for younger Indian-Singaporeans as to what personal success in life entails. These younger Indian males then set themselves similar personal KPIs, i.e. to get Chinese girls as life partners when they reach adulthood. The shameful and shameless cycle continues when they succeed and the problems in the Singaporean-Indian community remains unresolved. This is "Indian Pride"???

As I say, it's better for you to spend your time and effort addressing the inferiority complexes of, and problems in your community rather than devote your time and energy to slagging off the "m&ds".

* For those who don't know, "munjens" mean "yellow skins". It's a derogatory and disparaging term Singaporean - Indians use to describe and refer to Singaporean-Chinese .

Many chink men are damn jealous of India men holding the hand of a chink beauty because the hard to get chink beauty would prefer an India over a slank eyed chink. Even VB got the envy of LHL's brother. You one of those losers.

You have to be awared many chinks have abandoned taoism for Christianity.
